I felt at this point it was good to add this page, to give a little idea about who I am, and what I blog about… so, here goes.
🌈 About Me 🌈
Let’s start with the basics. My name is Marina, I’m in my late 30s. I am an immigrant –I became an American citizen on May 21st, 2021, after a long and arduous 20 year journey. I am very proud to be an American and I love this country wholly and completely.
I live in Florida, I’m married; I have no children, and never want to have any, but I do love animals and have a variety of pets at any given time. My favorite things in the world are reading, drawing, and writing.
I am a freelance illustrator and writer specializing in fantasy, children’s illustration and character design, including a lot of anthropomorphic work (a.k.a. “furries”!) I also regularly attend furry conventions around the country, usually as an attendee for socializing and not as a vendor. I generally offer badges for convention pickup on these occasions, which are offered a few months in advance via my blog and social media.
I have several book series on which I work on simultaneously. Please look under “Meganeea” or “The Tale Of Horus” in the menu to read them for free!
Online, I am represented by a little squirrel who shares my name and personality, and whom you can see in the above GIF in the company of my site’s unofficial mascot, stuffed tiger Ricky Parky (whom I also own in real life.)
A cursory glance through this site will make something immediately evident to you: I’m a colorful and eccentric person in the mildest of terms. Depending on what post or page you happen to read on a given day, I can come across as an goofy, cringy airhead or as a serious intellectual. And when it comes down to it, I’m a little bit of both. It can be hard to find people I “vibe” with.
As mentioned earlier, I draw a lot of art for the babyfur/furry community. I make a point of never drawing anything that I would be ashamed to show my mom or my in-laws, so, as you can imagine, I stay within the realm of the SFW and the innocent. Drawing for the community makes me very happy, but there is a lot within it that also makes me deeply uncomfortable. So it can be hard, sometimes.
I was raised Catholic, and have a deep interest in Theology, religion, and cults. These days, I consider myself something like Agnostic. Basically, I believe in intelligent design, but I’m not sure this intelligent design feels anything for us that can be called “love”. I also hold no animosity towards this intelligent design, even if this is the case. I’m grateful to exist in this universe, without any need to be loved by whoever or whatever brought me into being.
I’m Liberal, and a Democrat, but you’ll have a hard time convincing me that absolutely everyone within any given party or profession is stupid or evil or beyond the reach of mutual understanding. I’m aware of a lot of evil and ignorance in the world, but I’m a believer in people’s ability to grow and in the basic goodness of humanity. I don’t believe these goals are reached by resorting to shaming or cancelling (at least, not usually).
With that said, I’m not entirely naive… I know a lot of people are stubborn beyond reach, and a lot of people are simply assholes.
I often feel as though I’m simultaneously way too woke and yet not woke enough, so if I were to truly speak my mind without reserve, I would offend people all across the spectrum. 🙃
Most of my days are spend drawing while watching YouTube (more than anything, channels relating to true crime, history, and theology/cults, but not only these topics.) I also play a lot on my Switch, take care of the house, our pets, and of my very hard-working, long-suffering saint of a husband and best friend, Christopher.
There are many pages on this blog that will tell you even more about who I am –specifically, the F.A.Q., My Interests, and the multiple “lists” pages such as my Anime List, my Book List, and my Game List. You’re welcome to explore them!
🌈 About My Blog and Portfolio 🌈
This website has come to merge with/replace my old portfolio. So, here you can find everything –all of my art galleries and my books, but also my personal side in the form of my blog. So, I do things a bit more casually now. I’m not going to pretend this website is very professional (especially when there is some off-color language even in this about page!) but keeping just this as my online presence is easier for multiple reasons and better aligned with my current goals in life.
I created my blog mostly for myself. It sees few visitors, but it brings me a lot of happiness and satisfaction to work on it. Though you will see thousands of posts made across a period of years, a great many of these are post-dated. When I left most social media, I moved a lot of the content here, post-dating it appropriately, so I could completely delete my accounts on websites that were, to put it a bit hyperbolically, ruining my mental health. This is why many of the posts are square photos without much in the way of text (being Instagram posts originally) and why some of them have a “LittleSquelf” watermark, as this was one of my old Instagram accounts.
Moving all that content took me over a year, and now, everything is here. That actually makes this blog unbelievably costly to keep up… I’m sure eventually I’ll make another attempt at a switch between WP.com to WP.org. 🤔
On the left sidebar, you will find a long, meticulous list of categories, which you can use to find almost anything.
This blog is my world and my life in one place. It contains years worth of my life story (though for the sake of preserving my sanity as far as digging up stuff to repost, most of it is from after I met my husband, Christopher). I pretty much don’t censor anything here, you’ll see all my thoughts, my feelings, my heart displayed on my sleeve. It’s a public diary. Mostly made for me to look back upon and reflect/reminiscence, but if you enjoy it too, then it’s a bonus.
🌈 Contacting Me / Online Presence 🌈
These days, my online presence is pretty limited, and I like to keep it that way. I am no longer on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, deviantART or Patreon. When it comes to furry sites, I am ONLY on FurAffinity. I have a Ko-Fi account, a Toyhou.se, and a Gumroad. I also regularly stream both art and videogames on Twitch.tv.
