I bought this $3 dry-erase board at Target JUST to do this.
The baby snails are getting so big, and eating so much. Their shells haven’t fully hardened yet, but the amount of cuttlebone, calcium powder and lettuce they eat daily is astounding. They also eat tomato, broccoli, carrots, and some cucumber. I’ve yet to be able to coax them to eat more protein. I’m trying. I have to feed them twice a day: that’s how much the are eating!
Meanwhile… well, the big snails struggle. Over the last 48 hours, a slightly promising turn appears to have taken place. The snails are eating. Mites are still visible, I intend to order more hypoaspis miles in 10 days. Maybe the issue is finally improving. With two dead snails now, I don’t want to get my hopes up.
But I still love keeping snails. So far it’s still more rewarding than not.
Today’s my birthday! I finally got to open the box with my birthday bear on it (Wilfy, whom I’ve named Toby). The outfit I put together for him fit him really well! I think he’s got to be one of the nicest Charlie Bears I have ever seen.
I also got to open the gift from my friend Riley. The second Escargot book! It’s so cute and I can’t wait to read it with Christopher. These picture books really are a must for any snail lover.
I really wasn’t expecting to get to go anywhere today. Though I was so happy to get my new bear, it was a really sad and also very stressful day. I’m gonna go into more details about that in a later post.
But our friend Kris very generously offered to take us out both to distract us and to celebrate my birthday. He let me pick anywhere I wanted. That was a huge treat as well as seeing two of my best friends. It really made a bad day end a lot better. It felt a little odd to dress up to go out given the circumstances but I tried to be kind to myself.
I hadn’t put together an outfit in a while and I’m really happy with this one. I took MoonPie along:
We went to The Tavern. Our table was lovely, next to the fireplace, but the light also made it hard to get a good picture, as you could tell in the photo:
I had a fancy drink:
Sorry the photos are so bad, the light was really poor as I said… anyhow, it was a nice enough evening after such a day. Now I’m 37. Happy Birthday to me!
CW: There’s a good amount of TMI in this post so please click below to read more if you don’t mind that sort of thing.
I want to give everyone an update on what’s going on. Today I went to the neurologist because I’m having “exertion headaches” (look up thunderclap headaches caused by exertion and it’s probably caused exactly by what you’re thinking.)
A couple of you (well, three) know details. It’s not so much that I’m embarrassed of the particulars I just don’t want to expose people to details they don’t want to hear.
ANYWAY. I was hoping for the doctor to reassure me, instead she was concerned, baffled by the fact that I haven’t had an MRI ever consider I’m an epileptic, and mentioned that my “exertion headache” isn’t normal. It’s very localized and it lasts too long. She wanted me to have two MRI done like, NOW. Now now. Started calling every place nearby to find a place that could see me immediately. So that’s a great feeling. /s
And now here I go all by myself and I can’t begin to tell you how much I wish I could have my husband with me, it’s never great to see a neurologist worried. Plus she said the reflexes on the right side of my body are a little weaker (that’s the side of my head I have the headaches on, in my temple.)
So yeah this sucks royally. Gonna keep you all as posted as possible.
Here are some goodies I found at the local Asian market! 🧸🌈 🌟
I got a little cup which will be perfect for my wine since I… keep breaking my glasses… and a little pouch that I’m 99% sure is for kid sized chopsticks but will be so great for my Apple Pencil, since you know, I take it LOTS of places these days… 🙄
Anyway this cheered me up today so I wanted to share!
A real fun commission for Darkkirkwolf on FA!
The twins’ impromptu picnic was crashed by mom, but I’m not sure she wants to join them… a commission for tugscarebear!
Commission for bearhardt!
