At Markham Park ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿธ๐ŸŒฒ

Today I went on two long walks. The first one was just my usual neighborhood walk, but I did come across a couple of kitties. One I knew well, he was very friendly. Another was a companion to it, who watched me from a respectful distance, but didn’t seem otherwise afraid…

In the afternoon I had the great pleasure to go to yet another park I had never visited before, Markham Park. It is very big, we only walked a small portion of it. We saw some bunnies…

Then we walked through a foresty area, it felt very wild. The floor was covered in Florida pine needles and it felt like a world apart from everything.

At one point, we heard a very odd noise, a sort of squeaky animal call. I thought it sounded like a kitten in distress, except not quite… or a very noisy bird? We started looking for it. It honestly sounded very funny, but it had an unmistakable twinge of desperation, the more you heard it. So I wanted to find what it was to reassure myself. I walked a bit into a thicket, and even though the noise would stop when I walked, it would quickly resume.

Finally I found it, almost at my feet –it was a tiny frog, half its body in the mouth of the tiniest of snakes! The little frog was crying out desperately. The snake was frightened, let go, and ran off into the grass. The little frog hopped just a bit away and stayed on a leaf, I assume too frazzled still to run away. Or perhaps simply too stupid? It did get caught by the snake after all. ๐Ÿค” Here’s the little fella:

Later, we looked on YouTube to find which frog made such a strong call. Here you can hear it for yourself:

Anyway after that bit of excitement, we walked a little more until we reached a beautiful lake.

Then we grabbed some pizza and went home to enjoy date night with Christopher!

We opened all of the new Thomas stuff from the garage sale and gave Christopher some of his birthday presents earlier, because he’s had a pretty hard week at work. ๐Ÿ˜ž It was a very fun evening though and he seemed to cheer up. Hopefully this weekend we play with our trains even more! ๐Ÿš‚
