Happy Halloween! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿฆ‡

CW: I’ve realized I’m discussing eating and weight loss a fair bit in this post in a casual manner, so I just wanted to give a heads-up about that right here in case you’d rather skip this post. ๐Ÿ’•

Happy Halloween, everyone! Yesterday was so much fun. I had very precious time with friends, and time with family. A lot of my stress and blues has melted away. This had affected my appetite, and my calorie count has been really too low these past couple of days, so I hope now that I feel better, today I can eat more normally (you know how it is, when you don’t eat for a long time it’s like your stomach kinda closes up? I really wanted to eat, but it was hard.)

We went to a boring old-people flea market (but it brought back memories of pre-Covid times), to Best Buy, and then to PhแปŸ Bar again. I was a little upset that I couldn’t eat because I really like that restaurant, but just being there with people I love was enough.

I really liked my outfit for yesterday:

It has sort of bunny ears in the back:

My mom in law said that it’s kind of a waste to wear a baggy outfit like this when I’ve gotten so slim, but to be honest, I still really like to wear baggy clothes even if I get very thin. Heck, even more so depending on the situation. Baggy clothes just make me feel small, and the more I can lose myself in them the smaller I feel.

There’s a very perfect, hard to get to “sweet spot” between my innocent kiddy headspace and my “saucier” older headspace that is rarely pushed so intensely in a small period of time. It leaves me on such a high, it is dizzying. It could never get old.

In the evening, I made empanadas, my mom in law made jalapeรฑo poppers, and we played video games. We played the newest Mario Party release (Mario Party Superstars) and an old Wario game for the Wii U. Both were such an absolute blast, and I actually won once!

I always pick Daisy, but I wish Bowser Jr. was an option because he’s so cute. ๐Ÿฅบ I’m always so happy when he shows up.

Anyway today Christopher and I are going to spend lots of time together and watch horror movies and stuff so I’m gonna get all my chores out of the way early and prepare some cinnamon rolls so he wakes up with the smell. ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’•

Oh yeah and I hope to get all the commissions that are due today, posted today, but it may be tomorrow. Probably today though. Enjoy your day, everyone!

Two Steps Back –And Forward Again! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Yesterday was a hard day. It kinda started Tuesday night when we went to bed and noticed Kotoko hadn’t joined us as is her usual routine. She was hiding in an unusual little nook under my studio bed and looked quite unhappy.

This was coupled with her vomiting even on an empty stomach (white foam) over the last few days, something that intensified in the previous 24 hours, with her appetite quite reduced. Since she had some loose stool as well during this period, and because she is old, it all became very concerning. Her hiding like that from us was the most unusual part.

We hoped so much to avoid a vet appointment, because it was at a minimum a $300 expense that we could ill afford. But yesterday morning, it became clear that we had to go, as she continued to hide from us and throw up. I took this picture right as we were leaving for the vet. She behaved very well.

On the one hand, thanks to the appointment I confirmed her ears are okay, her spotty eye is fine, the lump on her back leg is fatty tissue, and her teeth are also okay. She was given medication to control the vomiting, which has helped (she didn’t vomit anymore since yesterday morning) and a bunch of blood work, the results of which we should have today.

But on the other hand, I was SO discouraged. It was so hard to raise this month’s $500 for this month’s debt to take some stress off Christopher’s plate. I was so proud –even though I still have to raise more before November. But after the vet bill, we were set back around $300 (there was an additional $25 for other items for her):

To have such an amount removed from all of my efforts this month nearly made me cry with frustration. I’m drawing all the time, trying my best to make things okay, but I can’t catch up like this. We received a significant amount of help yesterday but it had us over $200 in the hole still. So even this morning, I was really sad about that.

It was when I came back from my walk that I had Christopher check and realized just how much we received in donations (since I had them sent directly to his PayPal) and my mind was blown!!

The entire vet bill and additional meds were covered thanks to your generous donations! ๐Ÿ˜ญ The $500 I made to put towards our house debt are once again, untouched. And, most importantly, Kotoko is feeling better. This photo is from the way back from the vet (I know, the photos are very similar) but even then, because of the fluids and anti-nausea meds, she was feeling better:

It took a while for the fluids to go into her (something for which they took her to the back) so I fooled around with the Jurassic World Alive app on my phone while we waited…

Anyway, I just want to reiterate how grateful I am, all I wanted was to not have this be such a painful hit for our finances, discouraging as it was, and in the end we received so much help that we didn’t have to lose the money saved for the debt. I am so grateful to everyone who donated!

To continue in regards to yesterday. When we got back home, though I was trying to stay cheerful for Christopher (who I could tell was doing the same) I felt really low. Christopher did his best to cheer me up, he treated me to Chipotle and Starbucks on the same day. But it took a while until I felt okay again.

At least though, I managed to push through my hated task of cleaning the porch. And boy, did I hate it. But it is done, and by the time night fell, I finally let the cats outside again, to their utter delight. They’re still there now, enjoying themselves:

I also planted more grass for them to eat while they are on the porch, something I know they miss a lot.

The place looks a good bit emptier with all that I’ve thrown away, but that’s fine. It looks clean. And since this was something that was angering and depressing me so much, I expect my mood to continue to improve today and over the weekend, every time I see it. ๐Ÿ˜Š I’m also gonna clean up the house a little bit, since I am considering having a party the weekend after this one. ๐Ÿค”

During one of my cleaning breaks yesterday, while having my coffee, I read some of this book I got at the Swap Shop…

It’s very simple, but quite adorable. I like it because the stories are not about bears in general but about teddy bears specifically (as in, toys).

And that brings me to now! I’m having breakfast with Picaรฑa as I work on this post.

Anyway, today I really need to catch up on artwork, as much as I can. Things are not delayed per the queue, but they are per my monetary personal goals. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ This week just kinda went to heck, though thanks to everyone’s support it is turning around again! ๐ŸŽ‰

Summary Of The Day ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿƒ

It was a good one, for sure! Here’s my outfit for the day. We went to lunch at Chuy’s earlier, then I enjoyed another long walk by myself. I’m not sure if the weather became more tolerable or if I finally decided that I was getting just too depressed indoors. My clothes were literally drenched in sweat upon my return. But, I am happy, and I enjoyed wearing this even though it was a bit warm:

More urban wildlife spotted. He was big!

As I mentioned, Blue came in! Here she is:

I love her! I gotta get around to posting a video of all her cool sounds and movements.

My preorder of Kitaria Fables also came in, as I mentioned yesterday. I can’t wait to play it!

During my walk I came across this shirt at Five Below. I was bummed they didn’t have my size, it was the only one left, but I got it anyway to use as a sleepshirt. I always need more of those!

I bought other clothes during my walk. It was a very rare moment of seeing something in a store window and almost screaming. I’m very picky with clothes since as you know I have a completely bizarre wardrobe. Now, these items I won’t post just yet. I’ll share them as I create outfits with them. ๐Ÿ˜

I sold more commissions today, and, and… something AMAZING happened!!

It’s done!! It’s DONE!! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ Now I don’t owe my friend any more money. I can start saving to look after my mom!

I also finished the daily warm-up and now I have a giant pile of chores to tackle… but I feel happy and full of energy. I can’t wait to greet the day tomorrow! I feel like I can do anything! โœŠ

Happy Sunday, Everyone! ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Good morning everyone!! I was up at 6:30am to exercise. Now that I’m back, I’m having breakfast and, well, blogging.

When I went on my walk and had my little carrier in case I spotted any live cuban snails where I saw the dead one yesterday, but no luck.

On the urban wildlife front, here is a neighborhood kitty –skittish but friendly. He meowed a greeting but stayed away.

To my delight, the burrowing owls were out again! This time I counted four (not all pictured):

Watching me carefully…

This guy was a ways off the nest –clearly eager to return to it but didn’t want to do it with me watching.

He even yelled at my a little!

I also spotted a few squirrels but nothing else unusual.

๐Ÿฆ– Jurassic World Alive ๐Ÿฆ•

Well, unless you count dinosaurs. ๐Ÿ˜ I gathered enough DNA for a few more, including this triceratops:

As always, had a bit too much fun with this.

Playing with a tire!

I love how these photos came out:

I also created this flamboyant guy!

Hongry:

He’s a little charmer, look at that grin!

Anyway, it’s gonna be a busy day but a good one, I hope. We’re going out to lunch soon, and I still have a lot of work to do around the house, as well as the daily warm-up and another commission, and more exercise. I’m sure I’ll post again today. Hope you’re all enjoying your labor day weekend!

Birthday Fun! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ‚

Hi hi, everyone!! ๐Ÿ‘‹ Guess what today is. It’s my birthday! ๐Ÿฅณ Of course you know, because I’m the kind of person who doesn’t shut up about these things. ๐Ÿ˜ The first thing I woke up to was a birthday greeting and Amazon gift card from my mom in law. I think I had spent it literally ten minutes later. I’m terrible.

But anyway, got even more stuff I’m looking forward to arriving now. Today was extremely overindulgent. ๐Ÿ˜… But I have been so sad, and so stressed, especially the last week. I am a lot happier.

๐ŸŽ Opening Presents ๐ŸŽ

The first present I opened arrived some weeks ago. I didn’t know who it was from until today –thank you very much to my friend Kiba! It’s Felix Salten’s “Forest World”:

Felix Salten is a writer best known for the books “Bambi” and “Bambi’s Children”, but he also wrote “Fifteen Rabbits”, “Perri: The Youth Of A Squirrel” and many other wonderful books, which are often heartbreaking and full of death, but also hopeful and with beautiful descriptions of the wonders of life and of nature.

As I continued opening my presents, it turned out (based on the included gift notes) that I got some from Bluey and her gang! ๐Ÿคฏ What is this sorcery?

They sent me the Shadowlands board game, and some stickers! Thank you Bluey, Coco and Snickers! I think my friend Mwako was involved in making it happen, though… ๐Ÿฆ

The next package was from a dear commissioner, whom I love to draw. He has a very cute mouse fursona, a weakness of mine! His name in the community is Fieval. He sent me some Bluey figures! Thank you very much, Matt! ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿ’•

It was finally time to open my biggest present. I was very excited, so I saved it for last, and… HOLY CRAP!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•โœจโœจโœจโœจโœจโœจ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒˆ *sobs*

I lost my freaking mind, it’s so cute!! Again, I suspect a tiny lion had something to do with it… although it still seemed to come from either Bluey or Bingo. Who IS the keepy-uppy expert? Was that ever established? I can’t recall. ๐ŸŽˆ

You know… I wish I could have told 7 year old me that I would still be getting toys from multiple people for my 38th birthday –from people who also, like me, like toys and kiddy things as adults. That I would have a tank full of snails and four cats, and a library, and a husband who’s kind of a big kid like me in some ways too and makes me feel safe and loved… and drawing every day… what a life. I hope nothing happens to take it all away, but even if it did I would be so grateful for all I had until today.

๐ŸŒˆ Out Shopping ๐ŸŒˆ

Earlier in the day, my friend Snow sent me a present too! Some birthday monies to spend however I wanted today. So I decided to go out. And I finally made an outfit around my new Bluey shirt!

I really love it a whole lot! I wore my boots because it was sprinkling when I left but in the end I didn’t need them. It was sunny all throughout. ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒปโœจ

I have a mask but itโ€™s not in this photo. Iโ€™m wearing a mask indoors again when shipping and such, to be extra safe, but I am vaccinated! โœŒ๐ŸŒˆโœจ๐Ÿ’‰

I had a lot of fun on my walk, but was definitely glad that I brought a bottle of water (something I’m bad about) because the heat was quite unbearable. Here is my birthday treasure hoard from that excursion:

One of my favorites was this squirrel which will likely be displayed for the entirety of fall every year going forward! And speaking of squirrels and fallโ€ฆ another fun fall squirrel thing I got was a garden flag to put at the front of the house. Have I mentioned Iโ€™m excited for fall? ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฐ

As you can see in the first photo I also got fall, Christmas and Birthday stickers, a new pair of scissors, and some Pride tape. And these amazing scented gel crayons! ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Small softcover books make great, cheap scrapbooking suppliesโ€ฆ although a part of myself dies when I cut up a brand new book, even if I bought it for this specific purposeโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ญโœ‚๏ธ

One of the nicest thing I got was another Highlights Hidden Pictures puzzle book. I LOVE these:

I love the old-timey art and the level of difficulty is precise to my usual headspace when I’m engaging in type of activities. Here’s some sample pages… ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ I love it so much!

Thank you again, Snow, for all the nice play things I was able to get! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ“ฆ Mail Day ๐Ÿ“ฆ

As if so many wonderful things weren’t enough, when I got home there was stuff in the mail for me. One was the Bella Sara card packs I ordered a while ago:

I’ll use them for scrapbooking. Opening card packs is also a happy and nostalgic activity for me, so I’m very excited about them.

The next really blew my mind!! I specifically asked my mom for the Vegeta figure for my birthday because it was so cheap… like $12. I knew she wanted to get me something, I didn’t want her to overspend on me! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ Especially when she’s spent THOUSANDS recently on immigration… WHY… ๐Ÿ˜ข

Anyway… she kept messaging during my outing wanting to know if I was home. It was because of this:

So… yeah… one of the most wanted most expensive things on my list. A gorgeous artbook of my first otome experience, Code: Realize ~Guardian Of Rebirth~.

It even has art I’ve never seen before, so I was quite overcome with emotion by this beautiful present from my loving mom.

๐Ÿ’• Date Night ๐Ÿ’•

After ALL of that, Christopher and I had our date night! I had a really fancy snack and perhaps a bit too much wine. Bangers is protecting my yummy hoard!

Like last time, we played Age of Empires together-but-separately (side by side):

Later we watched a movie. I was too full from snacks to have dinner. ๐Ÿ˜…

Christopher petted me for hours while we watched. I was half dozing off between the wine and all the happy feels and just feeling sooooo good, it was a wonderful evening and I felt so loved and safe.

Now it’s time for bed… thank you, everyone, for all the presents and good wishes. You made me so happy. I guess I’ll have more things to share throughout the weekend as they arrive –but tomorrow I really gotta get some work done! โœŠ๐Ÿ’ฆ Goodnight, everyone…

Date Night An’ Other Stuff

Vegeta wants to send you good vibes for today!! โœŠโœจ

Anyway, it’s Thursday. Tonight is date night. I also need to do a little shopping for my upcoming play date with Mwako while I still can.

๐ŸŒˆ Little Shopping Trip ๐ŸŒˆ

I don’t want to spoil at least the visuals for Mwako, so I won’t post those things here. But I got some big crayons for his little baby hands, a bit of clay, some fun puzzle and activity books, and some other things to have a really nice little play date.

I also got some things for scrapbooking. A notebook, some Pokรฉmon cards and such…

I’m looking forward to having fun with these things in my scrapbooks. Glad to be finding joy in that hobby again.

๐ŸŽฎ Nexomon Extinction ๐ŸŽฎ

This game has been added to my extensive “to play” roster (also, this is the first time ever I can say I’ve literally collected games… I’m becoming like my husband.)

I never in a MILLION years thought I’d buy such a thing! ๐Ÿ˜… This game is a very honest absolute knockoff of Pokรฉmon. However, it seems to be a loving, well done homage, that a lot of older fans are enjoying. It was quite discounted the day I found it, so I figured I’d give it a shot. ๐Ÿ˜Š I’ll be sure to let you know how that goes.

๐Ÿ’˜ Date Night ๐Ÿ’˜

Tonight was date night! We had a few plans. In the end we didn’t get to play I Spy, though I ended up taking a picture of it at the beginning of the evening…

Instead we sat next to each other playing Age Of Empires. That was really fun. While playing I snacked on some yummy stuff that Apply Juice watched over so the cats wouldn’t try to get a taste:

Can’t wait to do the exact same thing next Thursday too! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Back To Mineral Town ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ

Last week Christopher relented and got me the remake of Friends Of Mineral Town!

How I wish the “Harvest Moon” name hadn’t been forever tainted, but hey, it’s still Harvest Moon, despite the name change. ๐Ÿ˜ The really nice thing is that even the standard version comes with a little manual:

Of course, back in my day (shakes cane) this was the norm. But as it certainly is not anymore, I was very happy to see it.

It’s gonna be a while til I play it. I’ve accumulated a veritable library of worthy, must-play Switch games. I really need to make a little time for myself to play them.

Soon…

New Pokรฉmon Snap Is Here! ๐Ÿ“ธ๐ŸŒˆ

Did you already snap up your copy of New Pokรฉmon Snap?? ๐Ÿฅ I’m excited to play this, and it may actually be the next thing I play, as a palate cleanser between more, ah, intense games *coughPiofiorecough*

I gotta say… I’ve come to really love the Nintendo Switch. I didn’t like it at all, at first. I also feared I would tire of my Let’s Go Eevee/Pikachu limited edition look, but I’ve drawn my fursona with it so many times, that I’ve become very fond of it.

What a year for video games, considering everything I have preordered too. I’m having so much fun! ๐Ÿ˜Š

A Busy Weekend ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’ฆ

…and then some! I’m sorry for the lack of activity… I’ve got many posts and news to catch up on.

Where to begin. This past weekend I went grocery shopping and finally took down all the Christmas decorations –a heck of a job, took a whole day. I also set a bunch of things aside for donation, and scheduled the VVA pick-up. I’ve been drawing SO MUCH. To date, I’ve inked 19 commissions in less than ten days, as well as worked on personal art. Some of the commissions are highly detailed, stuff I pushed myself extra hard on. This is very unusual; normally, this much work would take me 2-3 months to do, and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING.

I’m absolutely NOT complaining though. My work has been an utter joy to me these past couple of weeks, and I do hope it sets a trend for the rest of this year.

I also took care of the snails over the weekend, and moved all of my adult snails that aren’t super tiny (such as Bulimulus guadalupensis) to one large tank. I still keep two small containers, one with random eggs and one with baby Roman snails. Anyway, that took a lot of work too.

Today we had to take Tomoyo to the vet. The short story is she has asthma. I’ll leave further details for another post.

Tonight I made salmon croquettes for dinner. It was my first time making croquettes of any sort. Christopher helped me get them to the right temp at the end but I didnโ€™t have help beyond that. They turned out really good:

In other news, I was able to get the stain off my new Animal Crossing Switch game card case!

Due to this and some other small issues, the seller refunded me, so I ended up using the refund to get a Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron all-over patterned shirt that had been on my Etsy favorites for AGES.

I have one more thing to share. This is kind of… a blast from the past for me, the LONG AGO past, the “when I was 7-8” past. So, you see, troll dolls were one of my earliest special interests… maybe the second or third I ever had. I liked troll dolls to such an intense degree, that they were the seed that began my Meganeea stories, though eventually all the little troll characters I had became simply elves (and then, animal-elf hybrids.)

I had some Russ trolls, and many Applause trolls, and for a while I had a single, giant, unwieldly Thomas Dam troll that I ended up giving away. But I always wanted a smaller, happier looking Dam troll of my own. And now I have one. Meet Celeste:

Celeste, by the way, was Soraya’s original name. And she was originally a troll (yes, really!) with blue hair. Her blue hair was lighter back then (Celeste means “light blue” in Spanish) but this particular troll doll has Soraya’s exact, current shade of blue hair, which is my favorite.

If you look at other characters of mine, such as Zรกdatann and Gideon, you can see that their facial structure is very troll-like still. ^_^ So that’s an odd bit of trivia for ya.

I have to go now and get ready for bed, though I still feel like I have a lot to write. But at least I wanted to make a post, because it’s been a few days. Hope everyone is doing well, the current state of the country considered.
