When I went shopping with family yesterday, I got a few things which I posted on my latest Jurassic Stuff post. I left these odds-and-ends for a separate post since they are random and not Jurassic World related. To start with, for just about $2.00 I got these scrapbooking pages! 🌈✨✂️📔
This pair of ceramic snails cost me just $1.50. A nice addition to the snail decor surrounding my tank! 🌈🐌
Found some really neat dinosaur fabric too! I can’t wait to do stuff with it! 🌈🧵
Here’s a close-up of the fabric! 🦖🦕
It’s so pretty and colorful. I’ll have to make a bandana for myself if any of the pieces are big enough, or maybe a pocket cover on one of my overalls.
Hello, everyone! I had a really lovely outing today. It was raining hard (a tropical storm is passing by this weekend) so Christopher dropped me off at Dollar Tree before work, and I took a car back. It felt so nice out with the rain. It was early, too, and I’d gotten up at 6:00am so most of my chores were done when we left the house shortly past 8:30am. I felt very happy and light.
This was my outfit for this rainy day! 🐸☔️ I didn’t actually take my Build-A-Bear bearlien with me, but I held them for the photo because I love them so much.
I was rocking a bit of subtle pride with my new Pride month kandi necklace and pan socks. 🌈✨💕
I only went to Five Below and Dollar Tree, but I found SO so many things, I was so very happy!
On a weird random note, I saw this at Five Below. You’re welcome. 🧀
(I really wanted to know if they tasted like cheese, but not for $4.00.)
After shopping there and at Dollar Tree, I went inside Publix for a small lunch and ate it outside watching the absolute downpour and reading Twitter. 🍗🥤
Then I came home with the groceries and all my treasures, which I’d like to share with you now. First in my haul is this whole bunch of Arthur stuff! It’s all from Dollar Tree.
I intend to paint the suncatcher with Poscas, and probably the canvas too. Some stuff is for relaxing, one of the books is for my library, while the other two are for scrapbooking. Might use the Colorforms for that as well.
Next, and one of my favorite things, is this massive variety of playing cards and flash cards:
Cards such as these are one of my favorite scrapbooking/collage tools! There’s Disney, Fisher Price/Little People, Dr. Seuss, Crayola, animals, dinosaurs, nature, and more!
Next, here’s some Arthur and Berenstain Bears puzzles!
Believe it or not I use this for scrapbooking as well. 😁
More scrapbooking supplies —a few cute greeting cards; rainbow, snail and space squirrel cutouts (can you imagine my luck?!) and a little book with very nice pages for making my collages:
These next ones were very interesting and I had never seen them before. Fantasy, dinosaur and space felt scenes by Crayola! 🌈✨ Will probably be used for scrapbooking as well.
Here’s some cute stickers ✨💕
Next is this dry-erase pocket. I wanted it to hold my daily to-do list!
Which, by the way; looks like this:
And now… for the real treasures… the Jurassic World Dominion goodies!!
Finally, FINALLY found some!! 😭💕💕💕 The photo speaks for itself! There’s a mini dry-erase board, a velvet art poster, figurines, a towel, Captivz eggs, and stickers! Here is a close-up of one of my favorite finds:
And of the Kinder Joy “egg”:
The figure in the Kinder Joy egg was honestly a real disappointment but I was still so excited to find it anyway. A much better prize are these coins from the much bigger eggs I shared recently, which come with some really good gummies too!
The coins are just like the Mario Wonder Ball ones (same company). Heavy, real metal. Beautiful!
I’ll end this photo set with a final pic of Squeak, the candy warden! 🐊🌈✨
I hope you enjoyed this post and that you have a very lovely evening and weekend!
Happy Sunday, everyone! We’re back from our Memorial Day weekend trip to see Christopher’s mom and grandma. We went kayaking, it was a lot of fun! I was very cranky for some reason, for SO much of the time, which made me feel like a real drag, because everyone (especially my partners) was really trying to make me happy. But I really did have a great time overall. I just seemed to get suddenly irate, easily, for silly reasons –such as not being able to get the kayak I wanted (eventually I did, anyway). I need to learn to just roll with things better.
Then again, Christopher was on the kayak I was going to be stuck using, and he fell into the water, so… 🤷♀️ I admit he laughed it off MUCH better than I would have!
🌈 Friday 🌈
We were off around 3:30pm. I brought E.T. on this particular trip! He was looking spiffy:
As soon as we got there, we had nachos for dinner. I got to open my new Mandalorian Good2Grow Podz!
The nachos were great as always. We went to bed earlier than usual, because of a very early rise to go kayaking the next day.
🛶 Saturday 🛶
By 7:30am we were off. First a MdDonald’s stop, and then to the water! It was my first time in a kayak all by myself (last time I was in a tandem with our partner) and my second time kayaking at all. It was mostly mangroves, and a lot of fun again!
I wish I’d been able to get more photos. My mom in law got a lot of Go-Pro footage, though.
Sorry for the next (bad) photo –and… sorry for the photo in the first place– 😆 but our partner found a water snail on my butt when I got off the kayak, somehow completely unharmed! It was so cool to see a water snail up close. Their bodies are very different!
After a nice lunch of a sandwich and juice I had coffee and read some more of The Last Days of the Dinosaurs, which continues to enthrall me. I even got to have some sugar cookies my mom-in-law had here, including a Crayola inspired one!
After that, everyone indulged me in watching the first episode of Prehistoric Planet with me, and even on that first episode I was in tears at times. What an absolute delight. I can’t wait to watch the rest!
Later I had a little nap on the couch with E.T. Our partner took this photo of me while I slept.
We spent the afternoon watching TV, chatting, cuddling, drinking coffee and enjoying the sound of heavy rain outside. In the evening, we all went out for a really nice hibachi dinner at Makoto’s… it was a wonderful end to a tiring, happy Saturday.
🌻 Sunday 🌻
Today was our last day! We had cinnamon rolls and bacon in the morning. I took this photo of Sissy sunning herself on the super-hot grill (heated by the Florida sun, I mean):
After breakfast, our partner and I took my mom in law’s doggie for a walk around the block, and then we just chilled until lunchtime. After lunch, it was time to go home. I got a little Patreon work done on the way back. 🚗🌈✨
After we were unpacked, we did a Target run to replace our dying, frequently used Keurig. I grabbed a couple of silly things:
And that was that! It was a happy, tiring weekend, some misadventures, but with laughs, some drama (mostly prompted by me) but still, we are happy. In two weeks my mom in law comes to see us for her birthday. I can’t wait!
Hi all! Happy Sunday! So… this happened last Sunday (actually it started before the weekend… it’s a long story) but it didn’t make it into last week’s post. However, it was pretty significant:
The already faulty motherboard in my iPad ended up taking a total dump. Actually, what this means is that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth no longer work, and fixing this is not an easy or economically sound thing to attempt. I can deal with no Wi-fi, but no Bluetooth means no Apple Pencil. So my very beloved iPad was kaput, now to be sold for parts.
Now I have a new iPad Pro and Apple Pencil 2. I am very grateful to have received a donation from a very generous and kind commissioner which I have turned into a commission credit for them. And my husband lent me the money for the balance. But it definitely caused a ton of stress and was kind of the…whatever the opposite of “highlight of this week” means, though I guess getting a new iPad is nice, in some ways I still preferred the old one. Especially the pencil.
That aside –let’s get on with the summary!
🌈 Monday 🌈
Ian is here!! He’s smaller than I anticipated…
He perches perfectly next to my minis, though. I am pleased.
More scrapbooking supplies came in. I love, LOVE using playing cards to scrapbook.
Rosie will get comfy anywhere… she was purring tons.
🌈 Tuesday 🌈
Tuesday morning I went out for a walk and to get scrapbooking supplies. On the way back I had a little brunch at Colada:
With my new scrapbooking supplies I created a brand new scrapbook. Here are some WIP and final photos!
It’s ✨ shiny ✨
This was a lot of fun, I can’t wait to fill it up!
🌈 Thursday 🌈
Thursday was my ID appointment. I got my name change, and I finally became a registered voter! I can’t wait for my first chance to vote.
🌈 Saturday 🌈
Saturday morning I went on a quick Walmart run. I finally found my Barbasol can!! And some Jurassic World surprise eggs! AND a mini pack! It had a T. rex inside.
I can’t believe I didn’t take photos of this, but Saturday was my playdate with my friend Shelly! I set up the playroom again, and we had dino nuggets for lunch (Jurassic World, of course!):
We colored with crayons, watched Bambi and Disney’s Dinosaur, played board games, and then Shelly’s partner came over. We had burgers, drank, and played Mario Party. It was tons of fun and I can’t wait for them to visit again!
Oh yeah –in the morning my way, WAY delayed Giga order arrived… he’s very cute (and BIG):
🌈 Sunday 🌈
Today I gave an attempt at making my own açaí bowl! It didn’t turn out perfect, but it was good.
I also installed my new iPad skin and added the wallpaper to match. I love it! Now my new iPad Pro is all my own.
And that’s it for this week! I’m slowly beginning to catch up.
Hey guys! On this post I wanted to share how I’ve been getting scrapbooking supplies recently for my kiddy journal, for very little monies by looking at stuff that isn’t specifically made for scrapbooking.
For this, you do need a Dollar Tree ideally, but many similar items can be found in dollar stores for similar prices. But Dollar Tree is the best! I would say the most overlooked item for kidcore scrapbooking is brand new, 2-for-$1 greeting cards!
Sometimes you can use the whole front of the card, sometimes you just cut out what you can use (this is most cases, you don’t want the text –the card to the left above is a good example of a card I’ll cut text out of, while the one to the right is a rare example of one I will keep as-is). Very rarely, a card will have nice enough art on the inside that you will want to get two of the same one.
The card to the bottom of the rightmost photo is one such card, you can see them both, the one underneath is open, showing the inside.
I also recommend that you look at all of their books/kids’ workbooks/magazines/comics, regardless of topic, to cut things out of them. You can get a multitude of things you can cut for as little as $3 doing that. But it’s not just books. For example, this $1 calendar is great for that!
Every month has something fun to use:
Of course Dollar Tree is also fantastic with stickers. These are the only ones I got today, but they have many dimensional cardboard stickers, full sheets, for $1. Sometimes actually nicer than the $4 ones at big crafts stores.
These card games for toddlers are just a dollar. You get SO much in one box! With a little imagination they are great for kidcore type paper crafts:
Also —save things like candy and cookie containers! Happy Meal boxes! Part of toy boxes you opened. Here, I’ve saved parts of boxes of animal crackers and Uncrustables (some of my favorite kiddy snacks) and the front of a juice box (which is easily washed with soap and water):
It is all useful. Pressing flowers or leaves you find is great, too! If you are resourceful, you don’t need a lot of money to have tons of scrappy fun. And it’s more fun cutting things up! 😉
(Make sure to use safety scissors though! And don’t eat the glue!)
This is a rare week in which Christopher is coming home early enough to spend time together every day. So every evening we do just that. He plays a game, and I watch him play while scrapbooking. Right now he’s playing Skyward Sword.
Here’s my scrapbooking progress:
It’s basically another version of my blog, but with a much “smaller” voice, since it’s my “kiddy journal” as I call it. Since this “inner child voice” is a bit of a private thing for me, I prefer to show the pages before I write on them. It is something very therapeutic for me.
During the day, I flatten it under heavy things as much as possible for… obvious reasons… 😅
Also, during the last Iso Storytime I finished my coloring page! Then I laminated and put stickers on it. Squirrel’s getting ready for fall… I feel very ready too! 🍁🍂🎃
Speaking of squirrels… look at this cute little squirrel decoration I saw at Michaels:
I couldn’t buy him… buying things is done for now… but I did take a picture! 🍄🍂
Today I finished my 100 Days Of Warm-Ups project! Well, it ended up being 103. Before I start to work again, I needed to reset, so I decided to have some kiddy time. Of course, that means scrapbooking and cartoons!
I had Bluey with me. I offered to share my snack but she didn’t want any.
Cartoon choices were (of course) Bluey and Crayon Shin-Chan.
The episode I started with, in which Shin Chan meets the “real life” Action Mask, is SO adorable. Shin Chan may be the Japanese “Dennis The Menace” but he is far more childlike and genuine, and as a result, he can be so cute sometimes.
For a show with so much sexual innuendo and such jokes, it has huge heart. I’ve noticed that when shows like these add bits of emotion, it gets to me something crazy. Like when Shin Chan sends his important letter and it’s to Misae to thank her for all she does. It was played for laughs, but I teared up. Or when he finds Shiro. I’ve teared up watching this show at least three times and I’m still on season one. 😅
At some point I’m going to start going in between this and Doraemon because I have a lot of episodes to get through.
Anyway!! Have a look at my tape collection!
I’ve got all kinds… Washi, fabric, duck brand tape… they’re a lot of fun. I also have some huge duck brand tape rolls with really cute designs but of course those don’t fit in this box.
The last thing I’ve got to share is my new Bluey shirt. Can you tell I got a new special interest? Oops. Haha…
That’s it for tonight I guess! It’s time to clean the snail tank and then start dinner. I’m making chicken tonight. 🐔
I worked on a bunch of commissions today! Also had fun working a tad on my scrapbook (well, my kiddy journal.)
As you can see some areas are kind of “lifting” which I hope to be able to fix with a fixative spray that is coming later this week. My goal is to fix this journal completely, but after that I’m 100% going back to Happy Planner pages. Not Happy Planners themselves –just that format. It is far easier to scrapbook with those.
Both work and journaling cheered me up a lot! I’m also really looking forward to tea this weekend for my birthday. I’m going to try to scrapbook more this week as long as I can also keep up with commission work too.
I can’t wait for Mwako’s visit so we can do all sorts of things together!
I’m still feeling super, super low, so I decided to go on a Little outing. I walked to Michaels and got some stickers, and then to Target, where I got one of their last two Bluey plushies. I really, desperately needed something new to hug that wasn’t expensive.
It was very hot outside, almost unbearably so, but the walk did me good all the same. I met a squirrel on the way, who really stared me down…
Here’s my Bluey plush that I got to cheer myself up:
Later, I did some more scrapbooking. Bluey made sure the colors were harmonious.
I did work on art in the afternoon though, so I promise it wasn’t a day without commission work.
Even though I’m not doing okay mentally, I managed to be pretty helpful in the yard without as much whining as I feared I might have done. I ended up in a ton of pain but I helped raking leaves and with Christopher we put down two pallets of sod together. I also did a lot of pressure cleaning.
More than anything I am relieved that considering how I am currently feeling I managed to be cheerful most of the time because I really don’t want to bring my family down with my nonsense, again.
🐛 Working On The Yard 🐛
My mom in law found a cute caterpillar while raking leaves so she let me take him to a safe place. He was such a cutie:
Here’s some video of the little bugger, too:
I really didn’t want to be the first one to tap out (and I only stopped maybe 15 minutes before everyone else, after working since before 8:00am) but I was actually crying by that point because of the terribly pain in my old wrist injury. I think it’ll be okay though.
These photos are from when I came back inside. Almost every area of uncovered skin looked like my arm. 😅
Oh yeah –the fridge behind me is the new fridge. It was delivered today. It’s a pretty nice fridge.
Here are some photos of our freshly sodded and pressure cleaned yard and house. The first pallet had some kinda bad squares, but Christopher said it will all grow in very nicely.
After going back in, I showered and sat down to relax for a bit. I had a package to open.
🎈 Birthday Present From Drake 🎈
My friend Drake sent me a really fancy birthday present! It’s a very cute (but very good, it’s not a toy) crayon sharpener. I hope to use it on the next Little playdate.
Mojito was admiring it too!
Thank you Drakey for such a very lovely present. 💕✨
🐰 Scrapbooking Time 🐰
After that I worked a bit on my scrapbook and watched Crayon Shin-Chan. Mignon wanted to watch so I prepared his little chair for him to sit on.
And that was that for the day. Eventually I began working on chores. Grandma made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. The day didn’t end on a bad note. Perhaps I’ll cheer up tomorrow, I’m going to try!
