Hi everyone. I hope you’re having a good Wednesday! I’m under the weather because of my period but still trying my best even with my walks and all. Today I took yet another different route.
This time I ran into a group of ducks. They were very tame. When I knelt down by them, they all scurried in my direction and got very close, perhaps waiting for a snack.
I had strong cramps during my walk so it didn’t feel great. Plus, the sky went from fairly clear…
…to doomsday-like by the time I turned back.
Once I reached Pines though, I’d left the worst behind me. Somehow, I didn’t get rained on.
By the time I was in our neighborhood again, the sky was clear and stunning:
In the afternoon I zoomed with my mom and worked on one of the next illustrations for Meganeea. This illustration, which features Gideon, will also be the next chapter banner for a few chapters going forward, replacing that of young Faahvrigüo. The book (pen and ink) version is fully finished. Now I just have to color it for the banner.
I also played more Legend of Mana. I’m blown away all over again by these gorgeous backgrounds…
The weather is quite bad… I’m not sure I can go on my second walk, but I want to try. In between that and my period I get depressed. But funnily enough it’s a really good gaming mood. So maybe I’ll do more of that!
Hello everyone! I hope you’re all having a nice day. It’s almost Fall –tomorrow! So I’ve already gone and updated the blog’s look. I also made myself a new icon, and I guess tomorrow I will clean house so I can decorate on Thursday. My friend Mandie is coming for a “Little” playdate on Saturday night so I want everything to look just right.
I’m sitting here taking a break from work while a lot of people work on our roof, which is being replaced. There’s kind of a nasty smell in the air from whatever they’re using. My little guard-cat isn’t very thrilled that they are so close to our special “hanging out together” area…
I’ve been very productive, both in art and around the house. Commissions are progressing nicely, I’ve also done personal art and a few gifts for Christopher, and even worked on my book. I’ve taken care of the snails and continued with my exercises. Here are some photos of today’s walk…
I’m PMSing now, so I’m in a bit of a “fragile” mood as always, and everything I feel, good and bad, is super intense. I’m trying to redirect my impatience and anxiousness into my exercise routine, and just, looking forward until I feel normal again. 😓
My Cubanitos are doing well. Here they are exploring and eating after their most recent tank clean:
My biggest Roman snail seems to be on the way out. Not much I can do for him at this point. I’ll miss him when he goes, he had an old crack on his shell that made him very recognizable. I really do love my snails. I know it seems strange or silly to people, but I do adore them for so many different reasons.
One is purely from a scientific observation angle. Another is my “Little” self that has always found them adorable. And, they are so vulnerable, yet ridiculous looking, in such an endearing way. I really do enjoy my little pets.
Speaking of my little pets… this is a very low quality photo, but it is just so sweet. Rosie fell asleep in a tiny box:
I’m going to post a bunch of art now, and then catch up on housework before I go and beat my feelings into the sidewalk. That means going for a long walk. 🚶♀️💦
Today is finally over. It was an incredible, wonderful day! Christopher and I are both so exhausted we can hardly move or think straight. We had a lovely time with our friend doing all sorts of fun things, but I don’t think what we were doing mattered that much, just that we were together.
We really missed the sorts of days we’ve been having. I think we both thought at times maybe days like these were gone permanently. And, the exact way these days used to be, is in fact gone. Things change, those are memories. But I think these are even happier days and happier memories. I want to make so many more.
My day was off to a good start right from the get-go. I took my walk and came across a squirrel friend who had a big nut:
After my walk I did all my chores and changed into the outfit I prepared for today. I felt pretty cute in it.
Then I played Legend of Mana and worked on today’s warm-up while we waited for our friend to arrive to spend the day with us. Christopher also showed me a bunch of fun YouTube videos and we enjoyed that little time together.
Finally our friend was there and we headed out to a train store I’d long wanted to take Christopher to, but it was shut down for COVID until recently. I brought Heidi along today!
The train place certainly was fun, I took a lot of pictures:
They had a bunch of Thomas items but no Thomas Wood or Thomas Wooden Railway. However, these O-Gauge of James made my heart leap. I wish I could have bought either of them, I just love James so much.
But, I’ll always have my little wooden James, the first train Christopher ever bought me, on our outing to the train museum, and he will always be very special to me.
After the train store, our friend took us to a French place he knew well. It had a lovely atmosphere and the food was amazing (in particular, the cheese plate we started with) but service was rather poor. They were having a party, and it slowed things down to the point that we didn’t get our cheese plate until the 35 minute mark, maybe longer? And our main meal 15 minutes after that or so. We were so desperately hungry by then.
I forget what I ate… some sort of crépe. It was good and that’s all that matters.
After this, we went to the house to hang out a little. Christopher napped while we checked the needed ingredients for dinner. Then we woke him up and dragged him out with us to shop for what we were missing.
I helped my best with dinner, while Christopher and our friend took care of the meat –the hard part– and some other stuff. I prepared rice (poorly, Christopher had to save it) and made pretty good chimichurri.
The picaña was amazing:
Here it is served with the rice and beans:
And a final photo of it by itself (no Heidi) for good measure. It was so good, I can’t post just one!
I am WAY too full. But, my heart is also full. I feel so loved and looked after, and so happy. In a little bit I’m gonna be watching anime with Christopher while we cuddle, and then I’ll be falling asleep with these warm happy feelings. Tomorrow I’ll wake up full of energy and start the day with my walk… then the lawn… then some art. It’s a good life lately.
Hi everyone! Today was a wonderful day. Just getting a lot done, we had a wonderful date night, and in general, little things here and there are just… making me very happy.
To begin with, here’s a morning photo of Tomoyo and Elliot creepily staring me down. They held their pose and stare for several minutes, it was rather unnerving:
Then I have a daily owl from today’s walk:
I published a new chapter of Meganeea today, with three illustrations. You can read it here if you would like. 😊
In the afternoon I played Legend Of Mana for a little while. A while after that I had a big burst of energy/emotions for… reasons, that I desperately needed to walk off 🙈 so I took my second walk in spite of this insanity:
When I got back, Christopher was home. I was able to coax him into having a date night dinner out. So I put a new outfit together (parts of it are new) and I brought Vanilla Bean with me. We went to the Village Tavern.
I took this photo of Vanilla Bean in the car but she ended up looking kind of wonky. This also distracted me into not putting my seatbelt on until a few streets later. I’m not sure why, I’ve been forgetting that once in a while. I’m paranoid about wearing a seatbelt, so it’s weird.
Our wait wasn’t very long. I took this selfie of us while our table was being readied. I hope we can take photos like these without masks soon…
I felt like celebrating tonight, so I got a chocolate martini. Vanilla Bean had a sip too:
Rather horrifyingly for a $120+ teddy, she got some chocolate on her paw in the process. Thankfully it was easily wiped off! Well… ultimately I want to enjoy my stuffies, and take them on adventures, so the odd stain or such is not the end of the world if it happens. It’s just life.
I should say, this drink always does a number on me. I’d have to drink four glasses of wine to get as plastered as this one drink gets me, I don’t know why. Christopher says there’s vodka in it, which I never drink, so I guess that would explain a lot.
Needless to say I was absolutely obnoxious the entire evening, and yet in my drunken state managed to beat him at two rounds of Tetris. By the end of our game time, however, the pieces seemed to be going all in the opposite directions I wanted them to go. The connection between my hands and my brain was quite fuzzy. But I didn’t care, it was so much fun.
Tomorrow should be fun too. Goodnight, everyone! 😊
Good morning everyone. I didn’t oversleep today! I was up and out by around 6:30am. I actually woke up around 5:30am… I could have gotten up, but it seemed a bad idea when I’m pushing myself so far with the hours of walking and not too much eating. 😅
Having left earlier, I was able to get some sunrise photos…
Even by this point it was hot and humid. I can tell it’s going to be a scorcher… hopefully the evening cools down slightly, as I’d like to do an evening walk as well.
Today when I walked past the owl nest (remember, I’m always on the sidewalk) two of them (I’m guessing the two chicks) were playfully going at each other, and flying about. When I began to walk past they quickly hid, but the others stayed outside.
Today would be a special day, however. An owl was perching on the pipe that stands right by the sidewalk. I cannot believe I was able to be so close. These photos are still very zoomed in, but obviously not as much as usual. I wasn’t in touching distance of the little owl, but not far from.
Just like a little sentinel, he kept looking this way and that.
These three videos I’m going to share below are very short and samey, but I don’t expect I’ll have many chances of capturing a burrowing owl so close. So I want to share them all. Here’s the first:
Last one. At this point I felt I was bothering the little guy even if I was on the sidewalk so I left him be.
In other news, yesterday ended in great annoyance as I seem to have lost my Apple headphones. 😤 They are the cheap ones with a lightning port that used to come with the iPhone, but I loved them, and hate, hate that I’ve lost them. Thankfully Amazon had them for 57% off, so it wasn’t too bad and I should have a new pair tomorrow.
Anyway what’s in the cards today… gotta finish a commission AND the warm-up, and start work on my current trade with MinetteFraise, install some new brushes, medicate and feed/water the cats, look after the snails, and, well, all my other chores. Tonight I want to surprise Christopher with a special meal –and take another walk too. I guess I better get to it!
Hello again! 👋 I hope everyone had a good day! Mine was great, even if I overslept as I mentioned earlier. Hopefully tomorrow I won’t sleep in! 😅
I felt extremely cute today. 😌 Also, it’s only two weeks til fall, so screw it, I’m using Halloween frames because purple:
Before making our dinner, I went out for a walk about an hour before sunset. The weather was actually nice, temperature wise! There was a cool breeze. Of course the downside was that for half of that time it was raining, as in, absolutely pouring, with strong winds and lots of thunder and lighting. Still, it felt like SUCH good snail weather! So I visited that spot again, and…
BEHOLD! I am victorious on my latest snail hunt!
It is not smart really, to go out in such weather, but I felt so cute with my jumper and my goat-patterned boots and my rainbow umbrella on one hand, and my little critter-keeper swinging on the other, snail hunting. Walking right into puddles of fast running water with such nice boots is a very nice “Little” feeling. 🥰
Here’s the new gang. Snails are simple creatures. Placed upon food after their ordeal, they immediately eat. I love them and their two brain cells.
I did lots of chores today and finished the daily warm-up too. Now that I’ve had dinner I’m doing my best to finish drinking my daily water, then we can watch anime (currently watching Lovely Complex) and finally, go to bed with my current book to get a little closer to the end of War In Hagwood! Maybe I’ll even finish it.
Goodnight, everyone. I’ll be here again tomorrow with some more nonsense.
It was a good one, for sure! Here’s my outfit for the day. We went to lunch at Chuy’s earlier, then I enjoyed another long walk by myself. I’m not sure if the weather became more tolerable or if I finally decided that I was getting just too depressed indoors. My clothes were literally drenched in sweat upon my return. But, I am happy, and I enjoyed wearing this even though it was a bit warm:
More urban wildlife spotted. He was big!
As I mentioned, Blue came in! Here she is:
I love her! I gotta get around to posting a video of all her cool sounds and movements.
My preorder of Kitaria Fables also came in, as I mentioned yesterday. I can’t wait to play it!
During my walk I came across this shirt at Five Below. I was bummed they didn’t have my size, it was the only one left, but I got it anyway to use as a sleepshirt. I always need more of those!
I bought other clothes during my walk. It was a very rare moment of seeing something in a store window and almost screaming. I’m very picky with clothes since as you know I have a completely bizarre wardrobe. Now, these items I won’t post just yet. I’ll share them as I create outfits with them. 😏
I sold more commissions today, and, and… something AMAZING happened!!
It’s done!! It’s DONE!! 🥳🎊🎉🎈 Now I don’t owe my friend any more money. I can start saving to look after my mom!
I also finished the daily warm-up and now I have a giant pile of chores to tackle… but I feel happy and full of energy. I can’t wait to greet the day tomorrow! I feel like I can do anything! ✊
Good morning everyone!! I was up at 6:30am to exercise. Now that I’m back, I’m having breakfast and, well, blogging.
When I went on my walk and had my little carrier in case I spotted any live cuban snails where I saw the dead one yesterday, but no luck.
On the urban wildlife front, here is a neighborhood kitty –skittish but friendly. He meowed a greeting but stayed away.
To my delight, the burrowing owls were out again! This time I counted four (not all pictured):
Watching me carefully…
This guy was a ways off the nest –clearly eager to return to it but didn’t want to do it with me watching.
He even yelled at my a little!
I also spotted a few squirrels but nothing else unusual.
🦖 Jurassic World Alive 🦕
Well, unless you count dinosaurs. 😁 I gathered enough DNA for a few more, including this triceratops:
As always, had a bit too much fun with this.
Playing with a tire!
I love how these photos came out:
I also created this flamboyant guy!
He’s a little charmer, look at that grin!
Anyway, it’s gonna be a busy day but a good one, I hope. We’re going out to lunch soon, and I still have a lot of work to do around the house, as well as the daily warm-up and another commission, and more exercise. I’m sure I’ll post again today. Hope you’re all enjoying your labor day weekend!
What a totally amazing day! We went to the Swap Shop. It brings back a lot of old memories. It was much deader and emptier, but somehow smelled worse than ever. Still, good company will make the dirtiest and most mundane place in the world wonderful, as is always the case. We had a lot of fun. And, I bought three books! I only spent $3.00.
My original goal was to keep Pinocchio in my library, while the other two would be for scrapbooking. However, upon inspection at home, all three books turned out to be so nice and in such lovely condition, that I cannot bear to use them in such a manner. They will all be permanent library additions.
In particular, while flipping through the Little Golden Books Story Land compilation, I came across a blast from my childhood. This was, in fact, the first-ever book in English I ever owned:
As a child, I understood very few words in this story. It’s really odd to see it again and now understand the words. Not all of the illustrations from the story are in this book, but reading it, I see the missing illustrations that are seared into my mind. This book stuck with me, because I could NOT figure out the story from the illustrations alone, and I remembered this frustrated me a lot! 😅
Here are a couple of photos of the other books:
We were done with the Swap Shop fairly early, and from there went garage saling. We didn’t buy anything, but it was fun anyway. Then we went to get coffee, did some work around the house, and went out again for lunch. We had Mod Pizza!
Earlier in the day our friend pointed out this lovely little mushroom to me. I am always in wonder at how quickly they pop up and how perfect they are. Nature is so beautiful. Anyway, I had to take a picture!
After our friend left, Christopher, his mom, and I hung out, I finished the daily warm-up, watched Christopher play video games, and generally amorously harassed him as the entire morning left me feeling a little too hyper.
Before having my dinner, I went on another walk. I was doing quite well with my calories (and not feeling overly hungry or tired!) and I didn’t need to, but I wanted to finally have a banana pudding cup. 🍌 It was worth it and the walk made me feel even better anyways! 🐒
During my walk I spotted another cuban snail shell, it was even more frustrating than usual because it was still brown (as in, not sun-bleached) and had snail remnants! Aaagh. 😫 Most of it had been eaten by ants, but looked fresh. Where ARE these guys??
Our friend promised me he’d get me some of those snails from his yard and I hope he doesn’t forget and gets me a LOT. I’ll gladly put out the other tank again for some cuban snailios.
Also during my walk, I was able to create an Einiosaurus!
Just look at this cutie!
Oh yeah… some stuff came in the mail, such as my last Jurassic World dino (Baby Blue) and my pre-order of Kitaria Fables. Also –I paid yet more debt!
Now I’m off to do my chores. I feel rejuvenated for sure. I feel like I’m improving my art speed, making progress with debt, improving my physical shape and health, and I have fun things to look forward to next week. I just feel good. It’s a good Saturday.
