Memorial Day Weekend In Sebastian ๐Ÿ›ถ๐ŸŒˆ

Happy Sunday, everyone! We’re back from our Memorial Day weekend trip to see Christopher’s mom and grandma. We went kayaking, it was a lot of fun! I was very cranky for some reason, for SO much of the time, which made me feel like a real drag, because everyone (especially my partners) was really trying to make me happy. But I really did have a great time overall. I just seemed to get suddenly irate, easily, for silly reasons –such as not being able to get the kayak I wanted (eventually I did, anyway). I need to learn to just roll with things better.

Then again, Christopher was on the kayak I was going to be stuck using, and he fell into the water, so… ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I admit he laughed it off MUCH better than I would have!

๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆ

We were off around 3:30pm. I brought E.T. on this particular trip! He was looking spiffy:

As soon as we got there, we had nachos for dinner. I got to open my new Mandalorian Good2Grow Podz!

The nachos were great as always. We went to bed earlier than usual, because of a very early rise to go kayaking the next day.

๐Ÿ›ถ Saturday ๐Ÿ›ถ

By 7:30am we were off. First a MdDonald’s stop, and then to the water! It was my first time in a kayak all by myself (last time I was in a tandem with our partner) and my second time kayaking at all. It was mostly mangroves, and a lot of fun again!

I wish I’d been able to get more photos. My mom in law got a lot of Go-Pro footage, though.

Sorry for the next (bad) photo –andโ€ฆ sorry for the photo in the first place– ๐Ÿ˜† but our partner found a water snail on my butt when I got off the kayak, somehow completely unharmed! It was so cool to see a water snail up close. Their bodies are very different!

After a nice lunch of a sandwich and juice I had coffee and read some more of The Last Days of the Dinosaurs, which continues to enthrall me. I even got to have some sugar cookies my mom-in-law had here, including a Crayola inspired one!

After that, everyone indulged me in watching the first episode of Prehistoric Planet with me, and even on that first episode I was in tears at times. What an absolute delight. I canโ€™t wait to watch the rest!

Later I had a little nap on the couch with E.T. Our partner took this photo of me while I slept.

We spent the afternoon watching TV, chatting, cuddling, drinking coffee and enjoying the sound of heavy rain outside. In the evening, we all went out for a really nice hibachi dinner at Makoto’sโ€ฆ it was a wonderful end to a tiring, happy Saturday.

๐ŸŒป Sunday ๐ŸŒป

Today was our last day! We had cinnamon rolls and bacon in the morning. I took this photo of Sissy sunning herself on the super-hot grill (heated by the Florida sun, I mean):

After breakfast, our partner and I took my mom in law’s doggie for a walk around the block, and then we just chilled until lunchtime. After lunch, it was time to go home. I got a little Patreon work done on the way back. ๐Ÿš—๐ŸŒˆโœจ

After we were unpacked, we did a Target run to replace our dying, frequently used Keurig. I grabbed a couple of silly things:

And that was that! It was a happy, tiring weekend, some misadventures, but with laughs, some drama (mostly prompted by me) but still, we are happy. In two weeks my mom in law comes to see us for her birthday. I can’t wait!

Some Paleo Books I’m Reading ๐Ÿฆด

Right now I’m reading The Last Days of the Dinosaurs by Riley Black (AKA @Laelaps) and enjoying it immensely! So is my T. rex, in her own wayโ€ฆ

After Iโ€™m done with that wonderful treat, I have Locked In Time in the wings, by Dean R. Lomax (@Dean_R_Lomax) and illustrated by the wonderful Bob Nicholls (AKA @Paleocreations). I canโ€™t wait!

I’ll be sure to share my thoughts when I’m done! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Back To Normal ๐ŸŒž

Happy Sunday, everyone! Time for yet another week’s recap. All of this week I felt very overwhelmed. There is so much to do… I don’t know how I can ever catch up… but I guess eventually I’ll manage it. Anyway, let’s get to what happened this week!

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

Monday was Mwako’s last day with us. We went out to breakfast and shopping one final time, and then he was off to the airport.

At Publix he sneakily got this Jurassic World Dominion shopping bag that he surprised me with before leaving… I love it!

We did one final Target stop, where I finally caved and got the Ankylosaurus that I’d picked up and put back on the shelf three times prior. At home, he quickly made friends with Bumpy!

Also at Target, I found this awesome coloring book of Turning Red. It has wonderful illustrations and activities –stickers, too!

I also got another Highlights Hidden Pictures book. I love these so much. The old-timey pen and ink illustrations give me life!

The last lovely find was this little gliding Bowser Jr.! Isn’t he adorable?

For dinner we had salmon. And that was that for Monday. I don’t have anything to share until Thursday because I was just so busy.

๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆ

For Thursday I have a few odds-and-ends. Firstly, I installed the bird feeder that my mom in law gave to me, and added a cob of corn for good measure:

Also –this is older, but I only photographed it today. It’s a very gently used The Lost World: Jurassic Park baby triceratops figure by Kenner:

Brand new, this can go well over a hundred dollars. She came out of the box and with no egg, but she was only $25… so I am happy.

Also, I hung my little Bowser Jr. from the studio ceiling so he looks like he’s gliding!

Today our partner and I released some ladybugs to fight the aphids in our brand new almond bush. The ladybugs were exposed to the heat for too long on the way to us, but most of them revived and immediately went to work:

Later in the afternoon, at the insistence of friends, I took a break to play some Pokรฉmon Sword and have a snack:

I drank another of my Good2Grow Podz, this one is a baby T. rex, so cute!

๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆ

Saturday was stressful. Kotoko has been vomiting, sometimes a little pink (meaning there was blood, at least once). We’ve been in constant contact with our vet, and finally at her advice we brought her in. Kotoko was a very good girl, as always.

Multiple tests were done and we will see what the results say, for now we have special foods and nausea meds. Hopefully it is nothing serious.

In the evening, the three of us went out to dinner. We ate at El Balcรณn De Las Americas. It was a good place, we will go there again. Since we were a bilingual table, our very nice waiter gave us a bilingual dessert:

Later that night I decided to dress Grover up in pajamas, since all he ever does is sleep with me anyway:

๐ŸŒˆ Sunday ๐ŸŒˆ

On Sunday I went on a little date with our partner while Christopher rested and enjoyed some solitude. He couldn’t get us out the door fast enough, but I think he would have enjoyed this place were it not for the heat. We went to the Yellow Green Farmers Market. The best thing was the smells –like fair food stalls on steroids! We had carne a la vara, with arepas. It was awesome.

The people at this stall could use some help spelling, but it was pretty hilarious:

A lot of people bring their dogs here. This pupper was at a stall that sold… either carved wood items of some sort, or candles, or both. I forget.

He or she was in fact a good guard dog, but only as far as other puppers were concerned. I could get this close without any sort of reaction! If any dogs got anywhere in sight though (even far off!) this pupper would perk up and bark fiercely… without ever leaving his or her little perch. ๐Ÿ˜

Anyway, that was a lovely time. I’m really treasuring the memories made. ๐Ÿ’•

Just A Bit Left Of March ๐ŸŒทโœจ

Happy Sunday, everyone! More and more, you can feel spring in the air. Of course, with it also approaches hurricane season, and since it’s Florida, unbearable heat. Still, I try to find enjoyment in the changes.

This was a very busy week. Less art got done, but it was productive in other ways. I felt pretty unwell and cranky on the weekend due to my period and the hecticness that surrounded it, but I’m trying to do my best.

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

Monday I worked on art, on chores, played a little more of my Code: Realize fandisc, and I went out for a long walk. The weather was lovely, I felt pretty happy.

I had a pretty colorful outfit on this day, which included one of the designs I created myself for ODU:

During my walk, a tree I often come across was in full bloom, the floor completely covered in its flowers. It was a pretty sight.

At the store I got a new drying mat since our current one doesn’t really match the kitchen:

And, as it often happens when the spring items come out, I got my hands on two snail items! A decorative towel…

…and my favorite, a little welcome stone! I placed it next to all the other snail things:

I walked for like three hours, and came home starving. So I had a snack of crackers with pate and cheese, strawberries, and a little wine:

I also acquired these hilarious little alien things to have fun with later during the week:

Here’s a little random something from last week which I forgot to share. Diesel arrived! The box he came in is really, really nice:

The face design is wonderful, it’s very encouraging to see how much they’ve listened to customer feedback on the new line.

Next week the others should be arriving, I’m very excited about that.

๐ŸŒˆ Tuesday ๐ŸŒˆ

On Tuesday I placed an order for some items I want to bring during the (sometimes quite long) car rides that happen every weekend. My husband and our partner always sit in the front, so I’m a bit bored in the back seat. I do love the seating arrangement, as it makes me feel very small and happy. It definitely appeals to my inner child. But I want to make it more fun and cozy to be there, and to that end, I ordered these things:

I also got a pink trash container (not pictured). The other things, as you can see, are a seatbelt cover (because it really digs into my shoulder sometimes) a lap desk for my iPad/coloring books/sketchbooks, etc, and an organizer with a little tray. You’ll see a bit further down how I used it.

On this day the little aliens or “soots” as Christopher calls them began popping up all over the house:

They are still being discovered ๐Ÿ˜

Also, two games arrived. The one I am most excited about is the collector’s edition of Rune Factory 5! And the other one is Grow: Song Of The Evertree.

๐ŸŒˆ Wednesday ๐ŸŒˆ

I can tell in retrospective that Wednesday is the day I started to get REALLY cranky from PMS. I think we were all cranky this week, and I feel that it is my own crankiness kinda being passed around like a cold, so I feel responsible. ๐Ÿ˜ž But good things happened anyway.

First, I have a very cute photo of Kotoko being harassed:

We went to a very flat and blah park on this day. It did have an interesting rock formation, so at least I took a photo of that:

The park was otherwise boring and not one I want to return to. But this was the first time our partner made an attempt at running since hurting his ankle so badly, and the fact that he could do it without issues was a major highlight of the day as it had been a lingering worry all this time.

In the evening, I felt too crappy to make dinner, so I whined my way into having another Happy Meal while the Mario Kart toys are still available, and this was provided, in spite of me being such a pain in the ass this week. It cheered me up a lot.

For the toy, I got Peach!

๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆ

Thursday I went on my longest walk of the week. I walked for about three and a half hours. Here’s a squirrel I saw on the way to Walmart:

On the way back, it had started to sprinkle. These crows were eager to drink the drops, and stood with their beaks open and heads upturned:

I got a few things at Walmart. A black dress, a Yu Yu Hakusho shirt for me and a Cowboy Bebop one for Christopher (Walmart is getting to be really good for anime shirts) some bows, a new blanket and a Turning Red blind box:

I was hoping to get Mei’s panda form but I got this… oh well lol.

After I got home we went out to dinner and then to a huge liquor store to get wine for tomorrow.

๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆ

Friday evening was really nice! It was the long awaited Kirby release day. As soon as Christopher got home, I had a spread of snacks and wine and his coffee all set up.

It was just him and our partner playing co-opt while I watched and drank my entire bottle of wine, but that suited me fine!

Rosie joined us:

The game was my mom’s birthday present for Christopher. He really liked it.

Once they were done playing and my bottle of wine was totally polished off, I went to drunkenly make dinner. I made way too much and destroyed the kitchen in the process, but it was pretty good:

๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆ

Saturday was our weekly adventure day, and a LOT of fun! I got to use my new little setup for the first time. Now I can play my Switch without getting car sick:

You can’t see it here, but my little pink trash can hangs from the other seat. I also have a colorful pillow and my blanket in the back seat, and a coloring book in the pocket of the passenger seat. It feels very cozy.

The first stop was lunch. I had a hot dog. Christopher even went to the car to get Mignon for me so I could take this picture. When he does little things like that for me it makes me so happy.

Next stop was a record store, where Christopher bought me this World Of Warcraft soundtrack CD and Free To Be You And Me vinyl record:

We walked around a sorta ritzy but pretty dead mall. It made for some nice liminal pictures:

After that we went to Barnes & Noble. It was a particularly nice B&N, with TONS of toys. I bought this book while we were there:

As a lover of their Seekers bear series, I was very excited to find another Erin Hunter series about bears. But when I began to flip through it, after purchase, I noticed a vibe that was much more Warriors than Seekers. I guess we will see.

When he and my husband came back to find me, our partner had a little flower for me. I later gave the flower to Mignon. Unfortunately for my bunny, the flower had multiple ant residents, which then became residents of Mignon.

After the bookstore we went to a wonderful vintage toy store. I was too tired by this point to get pics, though.

At home I had an early dinner with Mignon and played a bit more of the Code Realize fandisc.

Mignon got into the cookies…

Overall a pleasant and happy Saturday. Today ended up being super stressful though, since our entire house is being repainted. The painters are coming tomorrow, so today was dedicated to moving anything that can be in their way. I also spent hours working on my bookkeeping, for taxes, had cramps all day, and this week I have an appointment with the social security office and I have to pack to visit my mom for her birthday.

It was a cranky and tiring day for the three of us and I guess this coming week may be a bit stressful still. So art may be slower and I may be quieter overall. Please bear with me.

I’ll see you next week with another weekly summary post, or maybe sooner if I can manage to sneak a post in!

An On-And-Off Rainy Week โ˜”

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s time for a recap. I was sick for a bunch of this cold, rainy week, but in moderately high spirits regardless. So I’ll begin with some musings before the actual recap. You may already have heard me go on about the following a bit on Twitter, but I wanted to expand here.

I drew a LOT this week, felt very creative, getting back in touch with a part of my artist self that I’ve kinda abandoned over the last ten years. I’d say the last couple of years have brought me the most joy art-wise. I feel more fulfilled when I draw than ever before. And yet… I’ve felt these past six months like the furry community, specifically the babyfur community, may be kinda moving on from me and some other artists.

I see a lot of established artists like myself struggle to fill slots, including artists that were once in high demand. Maybe it’s the economy, maybe it’s algorithms, all I know is I am not the only one (which is some comfort). But, having built my client base around babyfurs, if babyfurs don’t commission me as much I may also have to move in a different direction with my art/life if I am to survive.

Basically, I’m trying to branch out, at least before I give up on commission art altogether. As a commission artist, I’ll always draw babyfurs and ABDL content, it allows me to do such cute art. But I’m trying to go back to my cute little characters from 10+ years ago, my non-furry art (even if it’s little animals, it predates my furry days) which has more mass appeal.

I’m also going to be doing the odd fan art. If you want to support my babyfur stuff I’m always here to do it. I just feel like there is less demand for that part of my work these days. So, rediscovering myself as an artist this week has been refreshing, even though the uncertainty regarding funds does have me very worried.

๐Ÿคง Monday ๐Ÿคง

Nothing much to say for Monday. Had a quiet but busy day at home. All I have to share from this day is a picture of Rosie.

โ˜” Tuesday โ˜”

I’d been getting pretty stir crazy, so, on this day, I got permission from Christopher for a Starbucks treat, and went out. It was rainy. I spent some time at Starbucks, and once I was done with my food, I walked to the bookstore.

At Barnes & Noble I got a plushie and a book. I also read this picture book which promptly made me tear up in the store. I would have bought it, but it was like twenty bucks. I ended up buying it on Amazon as soon as I got home.

Usually I share a little bit of the inside of a book. But I feel like a lot of the punch of this book is lost if you show any pages. It’s a bit like a little comforting, hopeful song, and a book I intend to keep near my desk to read when I need to remind myself that all bad times are temporary. I really, really recommend it, even if you are an adult, it’s a nice thing to have.

The other book I got was Growing Grouchy. A very cute little story of Oscar’s birth and early years. And a little chick that I named Gumdrop.

Here’s a couple of close-ups from that book. I love the cameo of little grumpy Bert:

And a photo of Gumdrop with the hat I picked. I’ll make him a bandana and name necklace soon:

๐Ÿค Wednesday ๐Ÿค

Wednesday was another day of arting. In the morning I had a Zoom call with my mom. Then I went on a walk (it was rainy again, but nice and cool out):

…and had an acai bowl for lunch:

Not much else to say about this day. I’ve just been working so much every day this week, I didn’t leave much time for leisure. ๐Ÿ˜…

๐Ÿฎ Thursday ๐Ÿฎ

Ok as far as Thursday, first let me get my lunch out of the way. I made my own Mexican-style corn thing and it was very yummy, I had queso for a dip:

The best part of Thursday was date night. I’d long been excited about it because we planned to watch Turning Red. I was very turned off by this movie when I saw the first trailers and images, but as I heard more about it after its release, I got a little more interested.

Well, I’ve got to say, it is my favorite Pixar movie in years! The expressions and body language of the characters absolutely make the movie. As some have stated, it is cringy, but in a delightful, purposeful, “that’s the joke” sort of way: your early teens ARE probably the cringiest part of your life, after all.

It is also a love letter to the late 90s/early 2000s, a pivotal point in my own life. I was a bit of a late bloomer, since I was Mei’s age in 1997, but it was around the time the movie takes place (a few years after that, meaning I was older) was when I was emotionally in the same place Mei is in the film. I still found it deeply relatable, even more so because it was just my mother and me during a large part of my late childhood and all of my teens/early adulthood.

Conflict was inevitable, especially as I got older, but I was much less “my own person” than Mei is (too afraid to do so) and had no friends to fall back on, other than one girl for a couple of years. So, it would take me until I left the house at 30 (!!) to slowly begin to feel like voicing serious disagreement, let alone anger, to my mom was allowed.

These days, it is much less of an issue for me. Like with Mei, having other people giving you perspective really helps you to be your own person, standing on your own two feet –and eventually you don’t need that either.

Anyway, between watching an animated movie (something I haven’t done in forever) and getting a Happy Meal, WITH a toy I actually cared for, this was a very “Little” night! I was over the moon when I saw that Mario Kart was the theme!

To make things even better, I got Bowser, and my burgers where some of the best I had in a while, with very juicy pickles. I even used my Bluey placemat for the first time!

After the movie we just hung out and had quality time together. It was a lovely evening and the highlight of my week all around.

Friday

This was a very busy day. I worked on art all day, and we went shopping to like four different stores for groceries. That was actually very pleasant, and I got treated to my favorite sandwiches from the Argentinean bakery. But it is always so hard to step away from my work.

We had a lovely dinner at home in the evening. Here is a photo of Kotoko and Elliot that I took in the early afternoon to wrap up the post:

Tomorrow we have an outing, and Sunday a dinner with friends, so I’ll do the weekend on a separate post in case I end up with a lot of photos.

Mid-March Weekly Summary ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ›

Hello, everyone! I hope youโ€™ve had a happy week! Itโ€™s been very busy for us, as all weeks have been lately. So, as has become the norm for my blog, I just have one long post to catch you all up on the weekโ€™s happenings.

For starters, I am sick again. It seems I had one week of relief in between head colds. Itโ€™s very mild (milder than the prior one). Just really annoying. Anyway! Letโ€™s begin.

๐Ÿ› Curry Dinner! ๐Ÿ›

On Tuesday night, I made Japanese style curry. Iโ€™ve had many previous attempts that didnโ€™t turn out so great. Finally I figured it out, trying a new recipe which I doctored a bit. My guys loved it, as did I, and Iโ€™m looking forward to having it again with different meats.

๐ŸŽ‚ Christopher’s 38th Birthday Dinner ๐ŸŽ‚

Wednesday was Christopherโ€™s birthday! He got his remaining presents in the morning, and in the evening, we went to The Capital Grille in Downtown Miami. It was an extremely fancy restaurant, a real treat, so I dressed up a little.

Christopher was… excited.

All the food was wonderful, but I didn’t have my phone (forgot it in the car) so I didn’t take many pictures. Here is one of the appetizer, though, Tuna Tartare:

It was spicy. We also got a picture of Christopher with his birthday dessert:

๐Ÿงธ Toklo ๐Ÿงธ

Toklo now has a new ribbon and shirt. He still needs his name necklace, I’ll work on that next week.

The shirt is pretty funny, it was a Build-A-Bear online exclusive.

๐Ÿš‚ Date Night ๐Ÿš‚

For date night, we had one more round of playing with our trains before putting them away. We’ll probably play again in a month or two; I’m sure I’ll want to, as my new Thomas things begin to arrive later this month.

A little video…

Toklo got to play with us too:

The cats always love to observe and walk among the track. They don’t destroy anything, they just get excited by it all.

Afterwards we had tea. They gamed for a bit while I kept fiddling with Instagram, setting up my new art account. It was a nice, chill end to a lovely evening together.

๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Rosie ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

Have some cute photos I took of Rosie. I woke her up from her morning nap and played with her a little. She is such a soft, sweet little thing!

๐Ÿฅž Pancake Breakfast ๐Ÿฅž

This weekend, Christopher’s mom and grandma came to visit and celebrate Christopher’s birthday. We went to Nami Sushi for Friday night dinner and to a Thai place on Saturday evening. On Saturday morning, we had pancakes. Christopher made me a mouse-shaped one, so I decorated it:

It was very yummy!

Unfortunately I spent a lot of the weekend in a very crabby mood due to being sick. I am not very sick, but it is annoying. It makes it harder to do anything, and I am constantly sleepy. It also got a lot colder on Saturday night, and the cold makes me lazier. Hopefully I get my energy back again real soon.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Goodies From This Week ๐Ÿ“ฆ

I have a few new things to share. One is this new top I got on Etsy. It appears very wrinkled in this photo, but it’s really very cute:

I also got a Super Mario coloring/sticker book and a Camp Cretaceous activity play-pack:

Finally, we went on a Goodwill stroll yesterday, and I had two happy finds. One is this lovely old storybook:

And the other is this awesome, massive Sesame Street blanket that I covered my futon with. I love it! It is like new, and only six bucks.

That is all for this week’s post. I am tired, and busy… I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and I look forward to sharing another week of art with you as I get back to my drawing board on Monday.

๐ŸŒˆ Weekly Summary ๐ŸŒˆ January Draws To A Close! ๐Ÿ“ฆ

This week was beyond busy with our friend finally moving in, and prep before that, all the craziness during, and the mess in the house afterwards, which is sure to take weeks to put in order. I am very happy, but we are all exhausted. So, there won’t be a lot of writing in this post. Just pictures and a bit of captions to accompany them.

๐ŸฅŸ Monday & Tuesday ๐ŸฅŸ

Here’s two very cute photos of Rosie I took early in the week:

In the evening I moved my beloved bike out to the porch now that the cover came. It’s necessary, we need the room. But the cover is pretty good, I think my bike will be okay.

Tuesday night I made ham and cheese empanadas for dinner. Still not happy with the results, so I’ll use a different recipe next time.

๐ŸŒˆ Wednesday ๐ŸŒˆ

Wednesday was very pleasant. I went on a walk and found that our local Starbucks is finally allowing indoor seating. So for the first time since the pandemic began I was able to sit, eat, read my book, enjoy the company of other human beings in this setting. I actually legit teared up for a moment, as this is one of the things I have missed most deeply from the Before times.

Even got a cake pop!

I also went to Target and came across a lovely Bumpy figure; it looked a bit worse for the wear (just the packaging) which made me think it had been forgotten in the back and then put for sale. I was delighted and didn’t pass her up.

Out of the package she is very cute indeed with different points of articulation, even on her tail!

On the way back I spotted these little ferns growing out of a tree trunk, I thought it was pretty:

I also passed by Kimchi Mart and later in the day got to enjoy a wonderful snack:

Finally, this was tank cleaning day, so I got some photos of my guys, as it’s been a while:

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿฆฝ Sunday ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿฆฝ

Our friend’s move was on Friday. During it, he rolled his ankle, quite badly. It got enormously swollen. ๐Ÿ˜ž Still with help we managed to get his room set up and all of his things in the house, and on Sunday we went to IKEA to get a table and look at some desks (in the end we just got the coffee table).

He couldn’t really walk for long, so Christopher and I took turns pushing him around, which was fun. And we got to have meatballs!

It was a good but stressful week. It’s also been very chilly overall.

๐ŸŽจ Weekly Art Summary ๐ŸŽจ

In spite of the upheaval at home, art still got done. Personal art, commissions, and a gift!

That’s all for now!

Summary Of The Fourth Week Of January! ๐ŸŒˆ ๐Ÿฆ†

Weโ€™ve had some chilly mornings this week! Enough for me to wear my sweater during my walks, which Iโ€™ve enjoyed more than usual as a result.

However, this week also had some lows. On and off I’ve been a tad depressed, in spite of so much to look forward to. Time is moving very slowly for us right now, as we are excited about the very immediate future, and it all seems so slowly in coming. It’s stressful, and some of the happiness I feel feels wrong, for complicated reasons. It will get better, as will the stress and anxiety, but it feels as though time is passing like molasses, as they say.

I’ve also had a litany of minor accidents, maybe my mind being so lost in “stuff” has made me careless. As of Friday morning when I write this (which I will finish in the evening) it doesn’t feel like a great week, but that might change as the day goes on, who knows.

๐Ÿฆ† Sunday ๐Ÿฆ†

On Sunday I saw a cute duck during my walk, just foraging in the grass. It wasnโ€™t scared of me so I was able to get a good photo.

I took a different route on this day, which Iโ€™m sure I will take again. Itโ€™s very peaceful and with nice views.

Here are a couple of photos of Rosemary and Elliot that I took in the afternoonโ€ฆ

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

Monday was productive but also a bit lonesome because Christopher had to work late. I kept busy though, and had a pretty good day overall. In the morning, I went on a very long walk. It was nice and cold. I went all the way to Barnes and Noble and got a cheap little book, then walked to our local Cuban coffee shop and had lunch while I read. It was so pleasant.

I took a break from commissions to play Yoshi’s Island. This game is so cute and colorful!

๐Ÿ€ Tuesday ๐Ÿ€

On Tuesday I met a sluggy friend at the start of my walk! It was so big! I wanted to take it home with me so badly, but it was not a good time to do that. I never see these guys, just their trails. It was longer than my index finger.

This one was really fast moving, too. It was moving right over the hot sidewalk too, in the middle of a very dry day. Very odd. I wanted to assist it to the grass, but I didn’t want to touch it, so for a bit I didn’t know what to do.

In the end I grabbed the biggest blade of grass I could find, and had it crawl over it. Then I could gently pick it up and place it on the grass it was trying to move towards all along.

It disappeared into the grass very quickly. Kinda made my day to see it. Gastropods are so cool!

I stopped by the Cuban place again after my long walk. More reading and snacking delicious food after (or rather in the middle/as a break from) exercise. It’s such a delight.

I bought Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea today because watching Nadia: The Secret Of Blue Water has me really excited to read it (and I’ve wanted to for years anyway). In addition, Christopher let me have a special treat today!

The Jurassic Park / The Lost World special edition from Barnes & Noble. I’m so excited to read it!

During two of my walks this week, I listened to a new podcast (well, new to me): Medical Murders. I started with this two-parter about Dr. Morris Bolber. I highly recommend it and have embedded it below:

CW: Blood mention in the paragraph below.

On this day I also managed to pinch my finger with the camera tripod quite terribly, but the skin didn’t break. I did bleed a good amount, under the skin, which had never happened to me before! It grew into a large blood bubble. I had to poke it with a needle like three times during the afternoon, just trying to get all the blood out. It was so painful! And would only be the first “accident” I had this week.

๐Ÿฉน Wednesday ๐Ÿฉน

To begin with, while I was having breakfast on Wednesday morning, our neighbor’s sprinkler burst quite spectacularly:

Most of Wednesday was wonderful. I worked on commissions and on personal art, and overall made a lot of progress. I did housework, and our friend’s brother worked for hours in his future bedroom. I had to bring down a lot of the things I had hanging on the wall, since his work on the other side was making them move around rather precariously. But by the evening, the wall no longer had holes, and the closet door frame was nice and smooth:

In the late afternoon, I went on my walk and also to the grocery store, determined to make a nice dinner for Christopher. Shopping went well, but by the time I left the store, it was nighttime, and here is when my day went from pleasant to, well, not so. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Recently, I’ve had more and more instances of running into shady people on the sometimes nearly-pitch-black streets during my evening walks. I try to avoid it, but sometimes I leave the house too close to sunset without realizing it.

Some instances I suspect are likely nothing, but still scary, such as the van that was stopped ahead of me recently, as though waiting, and when I saw it and stopped walking, waiting for it to drive off, it instead backed all the way up until it reached me, and when I started frantically walking ahead again trying to get away, a woman in the passenger seat began to relentlessly try to get my attention, only to apologize profusely when I began to call Christopher on the phone (and then driving off).

These people were likely lost, and I felt silly to be frightened, but to have that happen in a dark empty street at night away from anyone is very scary, especially when you watch as many crime documentaries as I do. ๐Ÿ˜… Anyway, there have been similar instances (which is why I’m glad to have the pepper spray Christopher got me) and that last one had left me a bit rattled. So I wasn’t happy that I didn’t make it out of Publix until after sunset on this particular day.

Because of this, I avoided the street on which the aforementioned event took place, since I feel so vulnerable there, and instead went in the direction of Pines Boulevard. This was much busier (technically) being the main street, but surprisingly dark too. I walked as fast as I could, with my big heavy cart full of groceries, pepper spray in hand.

At one point, I saw a man ahead of me, walking in my direction. Since we were both in the middle of the sidewalk, I moved all the way to the left. Instead of moving to the right to pass me, he did the same thing. I thought it was an awkward miscommunication, so I quickly moved all the way to the right, even though it was very hard to maneuver my heavy cart. Well… the man promptly did the same, as he continued to approach me while staring me down. He was trying to block my path in a very obvious manner. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Now I knew I had a problem. Promptly I moved back to the left, rushing to pass him before he could try to block my way again, and as I did this, he very aggressively tried to get my attention, going “Excuse me, EXCUSE ME” not in the tone of someone who needs help, but in the tone of someone who is trying to intimidate or confront you. He got as physically close as he could, too. He sounded even angrier when I ignored him completely. I rushed ahead, looking back to make sure he wasn’t following me (thankfully he didn’t) and soon turned into the neighborhood.

I was pretty panicked, silly as it may sound, because this guy could have easily attacked me and I don’t think anyone would have noticed in time to help me. ๐Ÿ˜ฃ And the neighborhood was much darker and empty than the street where this took place. So I felt even more scared. I pushed my cart as fast as I could, almost running… and then suddenly everything turned upside down. There was a hard dip on the sidewalk, that at a slower speed or had my cart been less full, would have simply stopped me on my tracks. I could not see it in the dark. Well, stop me it did… but I was going so fast that the cart tipped over ahead of me, and I went completely over it. ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I’m sure it would have been hilarious to see (though thankfully, no one did) but it was probably the most spectacular fall I ever had in my life. It was extremely painful, and so sudden. Having confirmed no bones were broken, I threw things back in my cart and tried to keep rushing on, only to notice that my cart was kind of wrecked and bent out of shape. It looked as though it may fall apart at any moment. This turned out not to be the case upon inspection at home, but at that moment it certainly seemed so, and just rolling it was almost impossible.

Here I started losing it, so I called Christopher (who, being still at work, could do nothing to help me) basically to cry at him. But as I try, three times, to explain what has happened, the call keeps breaking up. He can’t understand me, and is getting very worried; I’m getting frustrated beyond belief and nearly sobbing at this point –and then as I’m still on the phone with Christopher, our friend calls me. He was right by the house, moving more things in. I couldn’t believe my good fortune.

Anyway, he comes to rescue me, and as I’m sitting in his car and in the subsequent minutes the dull pain I had grows astronomically. I wanted to just have a good cry so badly. But there was a lot to do –get my groceries in, get his stuff in too. ๐Ÿ˜” He calmed me down a little and left. But by then I’d lost all my motivation to make dinner, and my mood had tanked pretty badly and remained so even into the next morning.

I ended up having a hot dog for dinner, and that is after cookies… I just wanted to feel better. ๐ŸŒญ

Christopher was a little down on this evening, too. Back pain among other things. But we helped each other feel better.

โœจ Thursday โœจ

Even though I didn’t sleep so well, by the time I really started my morning I had perked up. โœŠ All morning long Christopher kept teasing smiles out of me, and just being affectionate and sweet, it made me feel pretty Little and I was significantly cheered up by the time he was off to work. He really has had such an impact in me just getting through this week. I don’t know what I would do without him.

I did some of my chores and had fun working on my half of a trade with Priddy, as well as even more commissions. ๐Ÿ˜Š And I finished reading this book:

It was quite good and I realized upon finishing that it’s by the same author who wrote Jip: His Story (another book I own and love) who, of course, is also the author of the famous Bridge To Terabithia which, surprisingly, I’ve never read. I guess I should, given that I clearly love Paterson’s writing.

In the afternoon Christopher and I spent lots of time together doing nothing but cuddling on the couch and talking –about our lives, our relationship, the future and its possibilities. Then I made dinner and we watched TV. And then we just went to bed. It was a quiet but cozy night.

In the evening I received Priddy’s half of our trade (you can see my half in the art summary below). Priddy is the first person to draw the bear version of my fursona:

I love everything about this drawing, it was a highlight of my day and quite fitting for this accident-filled week… ๐Ÿค•

๐Ÿ“š Friday ๐Ÿ“š

Overall, this week I have been doing a lot of reading. ๐Ÿ“– In addition to reading Lyddie from cover to cover and FINALLY finishing The Beasts Of Tarzan, I began Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Seas. ๐Ÿฆ‘

On Friday I finished yet another commission as well as a piece of personal art that might become a YCH. I cleaned the snail tank too, and a lot more work got done in the room for our friend by his brother –by end of day tomorrow, it should be fully finished and then we can take care of the final details, such as adding a closet system, reinstalling the fan and putting the closet doors back in place.

My stress level is still quite high, I’m still kinda down in the dumps, it comes and goes. Even tonight I’m still banged up from the fall, my arm and legs hurt, I’m irritable… but I’m also happy, I’ve gotten so much work done, and even when I feel down, Christopher is right here, keeping me grounded so to speak. Things will be right as rain again very soon. In the meantime, I’m working as hard as I can and staying focused.

๐ŸŽจ Weekly Summary Of Art ๐ŸŽจ

Here is all the art I’ve completed and posted this week, in case you missed the individual posts! WARNING: KINK ART/ARTISTIC NUDITY BELOW THE CUT.

I’m going to start posting these summaries every week. It’s really nice to just be able to see all my progress for a given week in one place (and if you missed anything, you can view it here).

Especially considering that this doesn’t take the weekend into account, it’s been a very productive week. I’ve more than halved my commission queue and even done personal art, gift art, and a trade! Not too bad. ๐Ÿ˜Š I’d like to get to Monday with the four remaining pieces in my queue lined.

Summary Of Another Happy Week ๐ŸŒป๐Ÿ

Hello everyone, how are you? ๐Ÿ˜Š Iโ€™ve had a really happy week so far. Christopher has worked late every night this week, which has been theโ€ฆ whatโ€™s the opposite of a highlight? Anyway, it was the one bummer about the week. I got used to having him home in the afternoons. ๐Ÿ˜” However, we still managed to have lots of quality time together somehow. That did make up for it, and was really nice.

โœจ๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Monday I got lots of commission work done, and that night I made a nice salmon dinner:

Also, I deleted the Twitter app again, at least for now. Really, the only difference it makes is that I canโ€™t look at my lists or follows (my Internet blocks still allow me to post and reply on my browser). I did it because the negativity was getting to me a bit again, and I was spending too much time on it. Iโ€™ll check in again at some point, maybe during the weekend (writing this part of the post on Wednesday, even though I’ll be wrapping it up Saturday or Sunday). But truly the benefit is always immediate. Suddenly I have lots of extra time and feel less stressed. ๐Ÿ˜…

Since I always have to be reading something, not using my phone/Twitter means that Iโ€™ve gone back to playing Wintertide Miracles as well as reading the Tarzan trilogy. Iโ€™m almost done with the last volume (The Beasts of Tarzan).

As Iโ€™ve read these books, I really marvel that they made a kidsโ€™ movie with this as the source material. Itโ€™s really kind of hilarious. These are not child-friendly books, but that is the least of the issues with them, really. ๐Ÿ˜… Let’s just say that I think today, Disney would not touch these books for a possible adaptation with a ten foot pole. I’ll go into more detail in a future post.

โœจ๐ŸŒˆ Tuesday ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

I finally secured my new t-rex to the wall (and also to the shelf, just in case it tips over). Doesnโ€™t she look amazing! The Imaginext baby raptors and t-rexes are large, around 9โ€ tall, so that gives you an idea of how massive my new lady is:

On this day I also went to Target and to the craft store for ingredients to make handmade chocolates for my Valentines. ๐Ÿฅฐ I saw this little book while at Target and took a photo because it was so cute:

When I got back home, I once again sat down to get lots more commission work done, while Kotoko and Rosie kept me company:

I love having cats… I’ve enjoyed having dogs too, and of course rats, and hamsters, and birds. But the lowest-stress pets I’ve ever had have been cats and snails. Both have such a knack for reducing my stress levels. Even the snails do. I’ll set out to deep clean the tank, with some dread because it’s such a job that requires such a careful hand and full-on attention. Yet when I’m done, it has melted my stress away.

And, being as I am someone who enjoys almost constant quiet company, thanks to the kitties I do not feel lonely during my workday. It’s really nice. I’m grateful to have them.

โœจ๐ŸŒˆ Wednesday ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

This was the best day of the week! The contractor was supposed to come work on our friendโ€™s future bedroom which needs to be finished ASAP. But there was a miscommunication and he didnโ€™t show. Still, I did all my chores in the morning, once again got a LOT of commission progress done, and watched almost the entire first season of Camp Cretaceous. I liked it a lot!

I spent the evening in very good company, got to go to Starbucks, and in the afternoon my polyam necklace came. Itโ€™s really beautiful and Iโ€™m going to be wearing it as much as possible. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ’•

Christopher came home a little later and I had a dinner of beef tacos waiting for him. After dinner, we watched Ghostbusters: Afterlife which was great. I drew until my iPad was dying, and then we cuddled for the remainder (about half) of the movie. And after that we watched more of The Secret of Blue Water in bed. It was a very nice evening. With him working so late I didnโ€™t expect to have so much time together, I know it helps when I have all my chores done and dinner ready, thoughโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Gotta work on that so we can have more times like these.

Anyway, I definitely got my fill of affection/attention on this day, so I went to bed blissfully happy.

โœจ๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Christopher let me have a huge treat on this day (literally and figuratively)! The apatosaurus I wanted so badly!

Iโ€™ve been worried about just missing out on it since things just keep going out of stock and not coming backโ€ฆ so in exchange for cancelling my Pokรฉmon Legends: Arceus preorder, he let me have my apatosaurus. It was a no brainer, I can always get the game in the future.

I walked all the way back from Target with this big heavy box, which thankfully is still the smallest of the legacy boxes, because it has to be put together.

I couldn’t resist taking some outside photos…

I especially love the detail on the face, and being able to have it hold leaves in its mouth! ๐Ÿ˜„

โœจ๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

On Friday I finally found a good place for my new dino friend, right above my computer area. I think it looks very majestic!

The afternoon and evening was very pleasant. Someone came to look at the room that needs work again, and our friend/future roommate came over in the evening. I made dinner for the three of us (salmon croquettes) and then we played Smash and Mario Golf: Super Rush for a while.

I did decently well in both games (for me). I’m terrible, terrible at Smash, which my old wrist injury doesn’t help with at all. The two times I managed to win (one being Friday night) was early matches before it started bothering me too much.

I love Ludwig, by the way. I donโ€™t have much chance to express that because there just isnโ€™t much merch or anything of him, but I adore him. I always play as him in Smash now (didn’t find Daisy as fun as I expected –still play as her in Mario Golf though).

After that, our friend played Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island (for, I think, a couple of hours?) while we just enjoyed each other’s company and watched.

I think I might have to play this game myself, I never did before, and it looks so adorable. I think that was my favorite part of the evening, just sitting mostly quietly together, watching. Times like those are truly the happiest for the three of us, I think. I feel totally at peace, safe, loved.

When I’m feeling like that, nodding off, I just wish I could just fall asleep like that and wake up in bed the next morning not knowing how I got there.

โœจ๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

This morning I somehow coaxed Christopher outside, and we went to have breakfast together. ๐Ÿฅฐ Also picked up a small treat for our friend, since he’s showing up at some point this weekend.

I brought Picaรฑa along:

Christopher’s smile was looking unusually adorable this morning so I took a picture. I just love him so much, I’ll never get tired of looking at him smile like this. ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

The lights at this place were super cool!

Last two days I also got a ton of commission work done (all nine warm-ups that I had left) which have already been posted almost everywhere. I’ll be posting them here too in a bit (I’ll post-date them though so they don’t bury this post). After that, I’ll begin my weekend housework, and then, more commissions, of course.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
