Hello everyone, happy Wednesday! I’m still enjoying spending time with my mom. I’m not feeling so great physically though, enough that I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow. So commissions that are just hitting their due date might see a small delay. Please bear with me. 🙇♀️
I’ve actually been under the weather since the weekend (again, physical symptoms) which led to canceling plans with a friend too. But I’ve continued working and have just been doing my best not to fall behind too much.
This morning we had breakfast and watched a few YouTube videos together. I introduced Beanie to mate:
Sweeney cuddled up to me during this time. I didn’t really bother or touch him and he stayed quite a while:
I played Giraffe and Anikka for a little while and drew a lot. My mom made a weird but good salad in the afternoon. It had cheese, olives, rice, tuna. It was bizarre but delicious.
Now I’m just relaxing and working on more commissions before it’s time to head home. I’ll post the daily warm-up in the evening, so look forward to that.
Finally, my fitness logs have resumed. Hopefully I can get back to getting in shape! I don’t seem to have lost much progress, just stagnated a tad.
I’m a bit under the weather from what (I hope) is a minor health problem that I don’t want to go into detail about. I had meds for it but they don’t seem to have worked, so I expect to make a doctor’s appointment for next week. I’m giving it another day or so. I had plans to see a friend yesterday but this issue had me too uncomfy so I stayed home and the result was that I finally caught up on all that I had to do. So I went to bed in quite a good mood.
Over the weekend we got rid of/sold of/donated many more things. This little bed, originally my teddy bear Franklin’s bed, is something I deeply treasure but could not find a place for… the house is too full, it will never be bigger and we will never live in a larger one. It was always in storage. So I thought I would have to donate it, because we need the storage space.
I set it aside, and immediately Kotoko and Rosemary took to it. Then I just could not resist. I put a blanket on it, and now it’s a favorite hang-out spot. The mouse next to the bed is Kotoko’s favorite, she likes to lay it at the foot of the bed before sleeping. And as you can see Rosie loves it too:
Yesterday I streamed. Kotoko kept me company the entire day, appearing on her KokoCam. 😊
In other dumb kitty things, here is Rosie playing with a blade of grass in our living room floor:
That’s kind of it for this post but there will be more later today. I have to work on art for a little while.
This morning I woke up to this cuteness next to me… Kotoko purring her heart out with her paw protectively (or is that possessively?) on Christopher’s sleeping head:
So yeah, that was adorable. Later, as she has the last few days, Kotoko came to spend time with me on the desk. She played with fishies for a while:
I had lunch with my friend Al today (it’s weird to just say “my friend” after years of saying “my boss” because even though I haven’t worked for him for years and years everyone still calls him “your boss”). 😫
Later Christopher and I went to Target for a pickup. We also got some date-night snacks and a birthday present for Nikki, his (our) sister:
Once home we watched TV and had snacks before heading out for date-night pizza…
As I mentioned in my previous post, I started to allow Kotoko to sit by the window next to my desk. She’s been enjoying it a lot. Sometimes she just lays as close to me as possible, and then I’ll put cat videos for her to watch. She has fun.
Here’s a little video of her playing with/watching some of it. First, some mice…
I didn’t want it to get old for her, so I closed the videos after a while, and this was very confusing for her:
She seemed a bit put out… 😅
Then she started to just… watch me. Stare at me from behind the monitor with just one eye. In the past few days I think I’ve sent Christopher three or four different photos of her doing this, but all the photos look identical. It’s a little creepy.
Sometimes, in the mornings, she plops down on the rug and snores there for a while before deciding to join me at the window desk:
And sometimes she just has to come down from the desk for a cuddle (or get some cuddling in on her way up to it). Here she was pressing her head against the crook of my arm really hard:
Yesterday I picked something different. She played with some “string”. Seems to be one of her favorites for now!
We both enjoyed this video of wildlife feeding. She did snap her little teeth at a squirrel head, though. It was cute, but a little scary.
I got some video of her watching this too. She was so into it.
A lot of the time now, she just sleeps behind the monitor and I hear her little snores.
It’s really adorable… I treasure these times with her.
Good morning guys! How are you today? I’m off to a very positive start and feeling very cheerful. I started my Fitness Log again, and did my first walk of the day. I’ll be Zooming with my mom soon, and hopefully I’ll get another walk in after the sun goes down.
Kotoko came to cuddle with me this morning. I’ve decided to allow her on my desk, which is by the window, and as a result she spends more and more time with me. I took so many cute photos and video of that, it’ll be for its own post, but here she is:
When she jumped on me, I had to snap a photo, even though my hair was still uncombed after my shower. 😅
I’m still doing lots of work to finish my site’s move. Most galleries need to be remade, but that’s basically all I have left to do at this point (well, that and the small changes that I’ll be using plug-ins for… I can’t do that until I get the Business plan.)
Everything is going pretty well. I’m continuing to catch up on chores and art and feeling less stressed. I have a bunch of new followers, I want to welcome all of you! This blog/site is pretty weird but I hope you have a good time here.
Oh, also, my collector’s edition of Märchen Forest: Mylne and the Forest Gift came in the mail. Christopher bought it for me as a reward for passing my naturalization interview and civics test (there may also have been some begging and cajoling involved.) It even comes with a figure! When I have time to open it I’ll be sure to share it with you all.
I didn’t take photos of many things during my break, but still can’t resist a few cat photos here and there. Kotoko was unwell again, for some time. This photo was taken once she was all better:
During the day, Rosie sticks near me, usually no farther away than the library. She’ll come visit me a few times, and other times I go visit her. I took these photos a couple of those times. She’s such a happy and affectionate cat…
This last pic was actually taken at the same time as the first. The tension in the air was palpable… 😅
It’s bedtime! So, let me wrap up the day real quick… I’m heading to bed with a book but probably will be too tired to read.
Today I went grocery shopping. I dressed a bit crazier than usual –I’m accustomed to getting looks, but this getup generally gets me even surprised glances more than usual. 😅
I always get nice comments too, so honestly, if I made someone smile or amused them enough to distract them on a bad day, it’s a bonus. I had to laugh though, when an old Publix worker came up to me, excitedly asking if I was the lady who’d been giving out balloons on a different day. So basically I look like a clown. 🤡 I’d probably have done clown gigs if I had the charisma… I like clowns, I’m too shy for that though, and kids scare me. They’re all sticky and smelly. No thanks lol. 😑
But yeah I went and I also got a little trolley to push my groceries in, so I can save money on Ubers and don’t have to bother Christopher for rides –plus, more walking, more exercise! Happy about all those things. And it was kind of fun to push it around. 😁
Among many chores, I took care of my little snails, removed a couple that had passed, and fed and cleaned them all. The baby roman snails are thriving! Here’s a photo of one of my milk snails who was eating his lettuce with a lot of noise:
I think Kotoko missed me. She’s been spending lots of time in the studio with me. She seems to have recovered from her UTI, but it exhausted her. Here she is, snoring and dreaming…
For dinner, I made salmon, potatoes and salad. It was quite good and Christopher liked it too, which is the most important part:
I’m disappointed because I was unable to complete all my chores. I still have a lot to do. I guess I’ll have to finish tomorrow, it can’t be helped.
I mentioned this over on FA, but blog posts aside, PLEASE bear with me for the rest of April. I cannot talk on Telegram, I can’t respond quickly to anything that isn’t business related. If you have a commission inquiry, please don’t just say “hi”. Please send a message with what you want, all the info, etc. I don’t have time for long conversations this month because of a long queue and because I am studying for the citizenship test. If it’s commission related, I will respond, but otherwise you may not hear back from me for days, possible not until May. I do apologize. 🙇♀️
I’m going to try to get some rest. Goodnight, everyone! 🌙✨
Hello, everyone! How are you? It’s the middle of the week. I spent today at my mom’s too, including dinner, but I’m finally home now. I have a lot to do tomorrow, and I’m buzzing with excitement for our weekend trip!
I mentioned that I’d gotten my hands on some rare Argentinian snacks from my childhood that I would share with you. This Turrón & Maní by Arcor is the most significant one.
Turrones were the cheapest of snacks when I was growing up, costing just pennies. They are kinda dry and lightweight, a bit like eating cardboard. But they are rather filling, not just for a kid with a meager allowance ($0.25 a day, though eventually it went up to $0.50 a day… still very little you could buy with that money) but also for my mother when she was a young girl working in a furniture store that was commission only (no sales, no pay). These turrones kept my mom from starving at work during those days.
The recipe has not changed at all, not from her days, nor from mine. Even the package is very close to what it was, and fills me with nostalgia.
It’s a great snack to accompany my coffees, and under 100 calories. I got a few, but I asked my mom to get me a bunch more.
Sweeney was the same as last time. I got hisses, but I also got playfulness. He’s very excited and happy when I arrive, but he won’t let me get too chummy.
I tried to spend more time with Shampoo. She looks so different these days… She’s 17 years old and must be shaved to avoid swallowing her fur and dying of a blockage.
She’s fine, affectionate, energetic and healthy, but full of little scabs from overgrooming regardless, and so thin. You feel every bone… it makes me sad… She was once an absolute beauty:
I hope my beautiful Rosie doesn’t suffer the same fate. I do miss so much how Shampoo used to look.
Anyway. My mom made my favorite again, homemade fries and fried eggs. No one can make these things like she can –no one. In particular the eggs. There is a perfection to the consistency of the yolk that I have not seen accomplished in any setting, be it someone’s house or restaurant, no one else can do it. It’s a real treat.
Afterwards, we shared the surprise Easter egg I got from Christopher. He got it at Buenos Aires bakery.
It was so, so beautiful! It also had candy inside.
It was high quality, delicious chocolate.
Anyway, I’m home again, I’ve fed Christopher and made sure he had lunch for tomorrow. Now that I’m nearly done unpacking it’s time to get ready for bed. Tomorrow is gonna be a day of prep and packing –we leave early on Friday! I can’t wait!!
