I’m running out of clever titles for my Jurassic-haul related posts… Anyway… my Jurassic Park Switch case by Numskull Designs arrived! This is one of my favorite items in my entire JP/JW collection. I collect Switch cases, but don’t have many because I’m picky with them. I have a Pokémon one, an Animal Crossing one, a Super Mario one, and now this one!
My only gripe is that it doesn’t have a stand like my others to hold the Switch while I play with a controller, something I do a lot in the backseat during road trips. But quality wise it’s amazing. No cost spared in materials and construction.
Here’s a little video so you can see the wonderful texture of the case. It’s truly my most beautiful case by a long shot, a true collector’s item.
I was surprised yesterday to find another Good2Grow #JurassicWorld topper! Now I have five different ones in my collection, not counting any of the Podz.
✨🌈 Atrociraptor 🌈✨
It’s here!! Such a cutie!
Lookit those li’l chompers 👀
He doesn’t come with batteries so I haven’t tested him yet, but I do look forward to it.
The next Jurassic item I will share is bound to be one of the Build-a-Bear plushies. I have a $10 certificate to use, but haven’t decided if I want Rexy or Beta yet. I’ll probably go tomorrow, though.
After that, expect the next batch in July. It’s my birthday and I’ve naturally asked everyone for more Jurassic junk. 😁 It is “Jurassic Summer” after all!
As time goes by, I’ve become really passionate both about the Jurassic franchise and about paleontology. These are completely different things, obviously. I have to say though, JP/JW absolutely had a major impact in my interest in actual, fact-based natural history.
Of course, Jurassic Park / Jurassic World, the franchise, is almost entirely pure fantasy —even more than I realized as a kid. But finding that out didn’t bother me? 🤷♀️ I love both things (fictional and factual dinosaurs) equally for different reasons. As I participate more in these Twitter communities though, I’m honestly saddened by the vitriol and the hate towards Jurassic Park / Jurassic World.
I see it mostly come from people seriously into paleontology and natural history, and to me it seems misplaced. I’m not the only person I know who became interested in the scientific aspect because of “cool monster dinos” as a kid. I dunno.
Expecting the movies to be realistic documentaries seems odd to me. Seeing the infighting / hate makes me sad. It’s easier to enjoy things for what they are and find common ground as we celebrate what makes us happy and passionate without always taking dunks at what others love.
With all the excitement, I forgot to open my giant Jurassic World Dominion Captivz egg! I meant to do it the night the movie opened (which is when we went to see it). I finally did it a couple of days ago, and took photos and video to share.
Here is a video of the really neat holographic eye which opens and closes:
The egg had a plasticky playmat and stickers. I don’t care for the game at all so the playmat was discarded 🤷♀️ The stickers are nice. There was supposed to be a dice for the game but it was missing in my egg.
Rexy on wheels!! This thing is hilarious.
Little Jurassic logo box with a dino inside. Very cool looking, I kept it for my shelf display!
And here are the little dinos. Lovely paint jobs and level of detail for such small figures!
Much as I love them this is probably all the ones I will buy. But I am glad to have them!
Here’s one more Jurassic World magazine I found while grocery shopping! Now that I’ve watched Dominion, I can enjoy truly delving into the magazines I’ve gathered. They are full of interesting tidbits!
I also found this Jurassic World Create-A-Scene book while out with my mom in law. It’s scrapbooking gold! ✨
It has more cartoony stickers which I prefer, and scenes to place them in. But of course I will use the scenes for scrapbooking.
Today we went out for Pho and then we all did some shopping together. Look what I found! A Jurassic Park patch for my overalls! 🦖
Here’s a close-up, since Rosie was the highlight of the prior picture, really…
I can’t wait to play this with Christopher. Very nice addition to our “couples” board game collection:
Finally, here’s what came in my three little Captivz slime eggs. I still have the big one to open. I’ve had these for a while, but been too busy to sit down and enjoy opening the eggs until this weekend.
The figures are of really excellent quality. Wonderful paint jobs!
Tonight we went to Cinébistro on a very special date night! 🥰 Finally it was time to see Jurassic World: Dominion. After literally not shutting up about it for months on end, the big night finally came! I got treated to a really wonderful meal, the seating was super comfortable, the screen was huge… and the movie was all I had hoped for and more!
I brought my T. rex, Frijol, with me, and had my usual Jurassic getup (shirt and backpack, and a triceratops baby necklace):
He was excited, too! 🦖👑
I will say that as far as this film was concerned, my expectations were modest, and my desires simple: I wanted awesome dinosaurs to fill the screen and alternatively rampage things, be awe-inspiring, be cute, be conniving, and/or be loud, or a combination of all of these things.
I wanted to see the old beloved cast (hello Jeff Goldblum, boy did you age well 🤤👌) interact with the new cast, which really grew on me over the years. I wanted to see Blue’s baby, Beta, be adorable. I wanted to stifle a scream each time I recognized a favorite dino. I wanted a movie I’ll want to rewatch. Suffice to say, I got all of that!
The following picture was, of course, taken before the movie started and before we got our food –this was the pre-show and I put my phone away when the trailers started.
NOTE: After the photo, there will be a cut (unless you’re reading this in email form, I think). After the cut will be my thoughts on the movie, which WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. You have been warned!
Here’s something I’ve got to share for today! Recently I’ve been collecting some nice magazines I run into while grocery shopping. There’s just been an influx of magazines that picked my interest:
To be completely honest, I bought them for scrapbooking, but they are such wonderful magazines that they promptly made it into my permanent collection!
I was SOO happy yesterday because for the first time I got a rare prize coin in one of the Jurassic World Frankford gummy eggs! I love it! It’s Blue 😁
I’ve never found a rare coin before, I was so happy!
Yesterday I had to reorganize a bunch of stuff to place my Carnotaurus up on top one of the bookcases. Tomoyo decided that she wanted to eat his hands when she saw him on the floor 🙄 thankfully I saved him before she did any damage! Now he’s babysitting Frijol and Bangers. 😁
Soo happy about this find!! So many wonderful things released in the advent of Jurassic World Dominion. I hadn’t seen the Bumpy or Dilophosaurus ones before!
Some close-ups out of the package!
Today the Dimetrodon that my mom sent upon my request arrived. It’s small, but really cool! Although his tail is glued a little crooked. Oh well.
Here’s the extreme damage effect in action!
Speaking of my mom, I’m going to visit her today and stay overnight. I hope everyone has a nice Tuesday!
Last night our partner dared me to fit underneath the low bed. 😬 With a bet for a new dinosaur toy in place, I confidently did, which rather impressed him. It was claustrophobic, and I cried a little when he started to tickle me while still in that enclosed space, but I won my new dinosaur toy! 😁
So today I left the house very early and went on a long, long bike ride, 12 miles total, to Super Target. I wanted to see if they had the newer Rowdy Roars. They didn’t, but it was a fun ride and fun store crawl anyway (and I did come home with stuff.)
Some pics of the ride:
Here’s a couple more I didn’t decorate because they were panoramas:
Here’s a really strange house with a caved-in roof. I’ve been seeing it from a distance for years when we pass it by, but today was the first time I’ve been able to take a really good look, and photos. It never changes or sees any repair.
Now for my finds. I’m building a veritable collection of tiny backpacks. They’re affordable and so versatile! Both of these are gems, I recommend them! Starting with the Turning Red one:
Here’s the Pokemon one, super cute too!
Here’s my prize for fitting underneath the bed (lol) a #Jurassic World Dominion Funko Pop Giganotosaurus!
He’s a big boy! 👀 I generally hate Funko Pops but I couldn’t resist this guy. My mom also bought me the t. Rex one. That one won’t be here until July though.
Finally… though again I’m not at all fond of Funko Pops, I can’t resist coughsexyoldmencough Dr. Malcolm. So I got him too. 😁
My new Carnotaurus friend is here, and I’m so delighted! He was only a little bit late. Like the other Colossal figures in Mattel’s Jurassic World line, this one doesn’t disappoint. He’s huge! The legs and tail need to be snapped into place, but then he’s good to go!
His pupil is a bit off center, giving him a wonderful side-eye that I simply adore!
Look how happy he is! I hope he’ll make friends and get along with everyone.
Hello, everyone! I had a really lovely outing today. It was raining hard (a tropical storm is passing by this weekend) so Christopher dropped me off at Dollar Tree before work, and I took a car back. It felt so nice out with the rain. It was early, too, and I’d gotten up at 6:00am so most of my chores were done when we left the house shortly past 8:30am. I felt very happy and light.
This was my outfit for this rainy day! 🐸☔️ I didn’t actually take my Build-A-Bear bearlien with me, but I held them for the photo because I love them so much.
I was rocking a bit of subtle pride with my new Pride month kandi necklace and pan socks. 🌈✨💕
I only went to Five Below and Dollar Tree, but I found SO so many things, I was so very happy!
On a weird random note, I saw this at Five Below. You’re welcome. 🧀
(I really wanted to know if they tasted like cheese, but not for $4.00.)
After shopping there and at Dollar Tree, I went inside Publix for a small lunch and ate it outside watching the absolute downpour and reading Twitter. 🍗🥤
Then I came home with the groceries and all my treasures, which I’d like to share with you now. First in my haul is this whole bunch of Arthur stuff! It’s all from Dollar Tree.
I intend to paint the suncatcher with Poscas, and probably the canvas too. Some stuff is for relaxing, one of the books is for my library, while the other two are for scrapbooking. Might use the Colorforms for that as well.
Next, and one of my favorite things, is this massive variety of playing cards and flash cards:
Cards such as these are one of my favorite scrapbooking/collage tools! There’s Disney, Fisher Price/Little People, Dr. Seuss, Crayola, animals, dinosaurs, nature, and more!
Next, here’s some Arthur and Berenstain Bears puzzles!
Believe it or not I use this for scrapbooking as well. 😁
More scrapbooking supplies —a few cute greeting cards; rainbow, snail and space squirrel cutouts (can you imagine my luck?!) and a little book with very nice pages for making my collages:
These next ones were very interesting and I had never seen them before. Fantasy, dinosaur and space felt scenes by Crayola! 🌈✨ Will probably be used for scrapbooking as well.
Here’s some cute stickers ✨💕
Next is this dry-erase pocket. I wanted it to hold my daily to-do list!
Which, by the way; looks like this:
And now… for the real treasures… the Jurassic World Dominion goodies!!
Finally, FINALLY found some!! 😭💕💕💕 The photo speaks for itself! There’s a mini dry-erase board, a velvet art poster, figurines, a towel, Captivz eggs, and stickers! Here is a close-up of one of my favorite finds:
And of the Kinder Joy “egg”:
The figure in the Kinder Joy egg was honestly a real disappointment but I was still so excited to find it anyway. A much better prize are these coins from the much bigger eggs I shared recently, which come with some really good gummies too!
The coins are just like the Mario Wonder Ball ones (same company). Heavy, real metal. Beautiful!
I’ll end this photo set with a final pic of Squeak, the candy warden! 🐊🌈✨
I hope you enjoyed this post and that you have a very lovely evening and weekend!
