I Got My Vaccine! ๐Ÿ’‰โœจ

I got my COVID shot today! Christopher is scheduled to get his later in the week. ๐Ÿ’‰ I didn’t get a sticker… ๐Ÿ˜ข so I just drew myself with one! ๐Ÿ˜

If you’re worried or afraid to get your shot, your feelings are valid, as long as you don’t use them as an excuse, refuse to inform yourself, or lock yourself up in echo chambers of disinformation. The stakes are far too high with this, and your choices affect everyone. Here are some links to inform yourself:

If you CAN get a vaccine, and you’re trying to get out of doing it for some illegitimate BS excuse, you’re either selfish or a dumbass. Get your vaccine –you will likely have to stand in long lines or get up early in the morning to book an online appointment. Want normalcy? Get a vaccine! That’s the price we have to pay. Do you consider yourself a patriot? Get a vaccine! Do it for yourself. Do it for others. Be a good person!

And if you can’t get a vaccine due to a genuine medical condition, I am sorry. I hope as many people as possible get it so we can all help keep you safe!

Also, don’t stop wearing a mask just because you’re vaccinated. No one is safe until most of us are, barring those who truly cannot get a vaccine even though they wish they could. Listen to the experts! This isn’t the time to be screwing around.

SOON โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

I needed to pump myself up for my test so, new icon! I’m fairly worried. In written form/multiple choice form, nothing is an issue for me, but I really blank on some of the questions under the idea of it being an oral test. I’m trying my best to learn everything.

Also!! I can’t wait to vote, and join a political party, and serve in a jury! I love the country that has been my home for twenty years so much. I can’t wait to say “I’m an American” and to do whatever I can with my new rights to help my country grow. But until then, it’s nerve wracking, haha. ๐Ÿ˜…

There Is Still Wonder โœจ

This drawing was meant to be accompanied by a long post describing my acceptance of being agnostic, a word I’ve only begun to use to describe myself this year, after one last, deep foray into religion that ultimately helped me finally be free.

In the end, I decided to post it by itself –well, mostly. This was going to be a lot longer. But I feel that my road to peace, to breaking away from religion and trying to find my spirituality without being constrained by fear or indoctrination, is more between me and my maker (I do still believe in intelligent design, but I also accept that it may not be a thing, I just wish that hopefully this is the case) rather than something I should share as a long diatribe.

The short of it is, I feel at peace –I had to grieve, in a way, but now I am happier than before. I was afraid that accepting what I suspected in my heart since childhood meant the world would lose its wonder and magic, but it has not: the world holds incredible wonder regardless of how it came to be. The only difference in my life, truly, is that I am free from fear, and left with wonder alone. I’m grateful for the journey.

A Squelf In A Sunflower Field ๐ŸŒป

Very awkward little thing I did for a new website background! Please forgive the awkwardness of it, I couldn’t spend too much time on it so I did it in less than a day. ^_^;

๐Ÿฅ‚ Here’s To A Happier Year ๐Ÿฅ‚

Here’s my early wish to a happier year for everyone who follows me. It would be disingenuous to tell ourselves that our problems will be solved at the stroke of midnight tomorrow, and I have to say, if we have even some sense of normalcy returning by July 2021, I’ll feel infinitely grateful. In this winter of our times, I believe we still have a good few difficult, cold months ahead. But if I squint a little, I can already see a glimmer of hope in the horizon. I hope you can see it, too.

I leave you with the lyrics to the opening song of one of my favorite Disney sequels, which inspired this drawing and has both lifted my spirits during sad times and made me smile during happy ones with the reassuring reminder that yes, things worked out in the end, and will again.

Have a happy 2021, everyone.

Under the snow, beneath the frozen streams,
There is life…
You’ll have to know, when nature sleeps she dreams,
There is life…

And the colder the winter, the warmer the spring,
The deeper the sorrow, the more our hearts sing,
Even when you can’t see it, inside everything,
There is life…

After the rain, the sun will reappear,
There is life…
After the pain, the joy will still be here,
There is life…

For it’s out of the darkness that we learn to see,
And out of the silence that songs come to be,
And all that we dream of awaits patiently,
There is life.

Upcoming Holiday Icon ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽโ›„

Before you all worry, there’s been ton of commission work behind the scenes… the BG for the Winter Friends YCH is almost done and most of the characters for that are inked as well! I don’t mean just the animals, but actually all the YCHs individually. ๐Ÿ˜Š So, I allowed myself one little personal thing in between!

I’m trying to get myself in a Christmasy mood. I’m not depressed or anything, frankly the complete opposite, but I don’t feel the energy to decorate like, at all. I want to do it for Christopher’s sake at least though. I will try!

In addition to the new icon my blog will have a whole Christmasy revamp. I’ve had that ready for a while and kinda chomping at the bit to use it… the featured image on this post is a sneak peek of that, and will be used on all Christmas themed posts. Maybe I’ll reward myself with the full revamp after I decorate the house.

If You Help Me, I Know We Can Do It

I drew this a couple of days ago –when the election results were becoming clearer, but had not yet been announced by every media outlet.

I felt pretty sure that Biden would win, but I was heartbroken regardless, because it was so close, and for me, it wasn’t really about Biden winning as much as it was about seeing the majority of our country repudiate what I feel is a lack of compassion and basic human decency. When I saw it was so closely split, it changed my view of things going forward.

This country has hate of all kinds, it has racism, it has white supremacy groups. But at its core, I believe our United States are still made mostly of good people. People who even in terrible misunderstanding and disagreement do not want to fight. People who do love each other, in spite of seeing the other side make choices that they consider to go against whatever their basic morals are (don’t fool yourself, both sides feel this regardless of who is right, and you know where I stand myself.)

It’s easy enough to say that the viewpoints on each side cannot begin to be compared, and that one side is quite right to be demonized by the other. Unfortunately, it really will get us nowhere. It REALLY will happen again if we don’t reach out to our neighbor, no matter where they stand, and ask: “What made you choose this? I’ll listen to you. Tell me what you are afraid of. I’ll tell you my fears. Let’s find a common middle ground.”

So much of the hate in this country is rooted in fear. Seeking to see eye-to-eye with someone who holds what may be an abhorrent viewpoint to you (and to many) is a bitter pill to swallow. But I feel it is the only way forward if we are ever going to heal.

Most people aren’t a lost cause. Neither is our nation. Most Americans are good people. Believe that, and we will be united again.
