Welcome, April! ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒˆโ˜”

Happy April, everyone! Boy, this was one stressful week, but it did have good moments regardless. Not only was our house painted this week, but we cleaned the back porch (a grueling task every time as you might recall) I was on my period for half the week, had to do our taxes, go to an appointment at the Social Security Administration office, I visited my mom to celebrate her birthday, and went on a couple of outings with my husband and our partner.

This is my sorry face

So if you are among the multiple people I’ve left on read these past few days… I am so sorry, and you are still on my mind, and not forgotten… it’s been a heck of a week… I’ll be catching up with messages as the week rolls on.

I also played a lot of Code: Realize ~Wintertide Miracles~ (I’m on Cantarella’s story right now) and we are watching Tenchi Muyo so I felt the above GIF was appropiate. ^_^

๐ŸŒˆ Monday ๐ŸŒˆ

Monday was fairly quiet. I worked on commissions and did housework, but was a bit subdued due to my period. Our house began to be prepped for painting on this day.

For lunch, I made toasted rice balls for our partner and I. He’d never had them before.

Got to use my new Bluey plate, cutlery and bowl, so that made me happy.

And speaking of Bluey –here is a coloring book I got recently:

The pages are kinda thin, so I’ll just scan and reprint on thicker paper when I want to color it. This is actually how I preserve most of my coloring books, including many vintage ones!

๐ŸŒˆ Tuesday ๐ŸŒˆ

Tuesday was the Social Security appointment (for my name change). It went smoothly, other than the security guard at the entrance being so intimidating towards everyone, especially older people who could not understand English nor understand what was going on. Even though inside plenty of signage indicates accommodating if you need an interpreter, the officer was aggressive and angry towards these poor mostly Latin people who barely spoke English and were so confused and even frightened by his demeanor. ๐Ÿ˜

Once that was done, I walked to Target. I saw these traffic cones on the way that grass had grown right through. Seems the grass around them was mowed without the cones being moved a few times. I thought it looked interesting enough for a picture:

By the time I got home, a lot of progress had been done on the house painting. Here is a before and after at that point in time (I’ll have a final update next week):

I didn’t have much time to admire the house. I had to finish all my chores, and pack, and then our partner drove me to my mom’s. She and I went to dinner pretty soon after I got there to celebrate her birthday:

I had primavera pizza! It’s my favorite because it has egg:

Once we got home, my mom opened her birthday present. Christopher bought her a laptop (her computer was ANCIENT). She was really happy –Sweeney tested it immediately! Meanwhile, Shampoo enjoyed laying on a crinkly paper bag. To each their own.

๐ŸŒˆ Wednesday ๐ŸŒˆ

Wednesday was my mom and I’s usual peaceful morning of TV, mate, and conversation. I also drew and played a bit of Code: Realize ~Wintertide Miracles~ here and there.

Gumdrop had his first taste of mate!

My mom had a really big surprise for me! She was able to find my favorite childhood cookies, which I have not had for over twenty years!

They have zodiac signs on them:

A close similar cookie was Pepperidge Farm’s chessmen chocolate cookies, but I think they were discontinued in my area a long time ago. I can’t find them anywhere anymore. Anyway, my mom got me like three bags of these, so that was a wonderful surprise!

For Wednesday night dinner, my mom made fries (my favorite)!

As if that weren’t enough, she made a legit Argentinean bizcochuelo for dessert, another big treat. The mix was yet another childhood favorite that she was able to acquire recently through a shopping service.

After dinner, my guys picked me up. At home I had yet another wonderful surprise waiting for me! At first I couldn’t find Yoshi anywhere and I was sure our partner had hidden him or placed him in some sort of unfortunate situation, as he tends to do to my toys. But Yoshi turned out to be waiting for me on my desk, and he was holding the Limited Run visual novel I’ve been begging Christopher for!

It’s The House In Fata Morgana. I’ve heard many good things about it.

That, and watching TV and cuddling all together, made for a wonderful end to my day.

๐ŸŒˆ Thursday ๐ŸŒˆ

I forgot to share this other surprise my mom gave me during my visit! Last time she got me the Mafalda figure and magazine. This time it was Manolito:

On Thursday I walked to Target to pick up an online order. I wanted to get one of these dino clickers, mostly as a desk fidget toy. His head and legs click when you move them. He’s really cute.

For date night, I made another massive snack spread, while the guys continued playing Kirby and I watched. Didn’t get quite so drunk on this day, but it was still a nice time.

Also, on this day, more engines arrived!

They are so, SO well made, utterly perfect in every way! I received Thomas, Percy, Gordon, and my favorite boy, James!

The facial expressions are great; Percy’s in particular is hilarious:

I wish they’d given James his angry face, but I love them all.

Can’t wait to get my hands on Henry, and Cranky when they remake him too.

๐ŸŒˆ Friday ๐ŸŒˆ

Since we had our date night in on Thursday, Friday was our day out. First we went out to ramen!

The atmosphere outside was spooky. Not only was it rainy, but the Everglades were on fire, and you could clearly see the smoke amidst the clouds. Our car was covered in ash!

After lunch we went to Monster MiniGolf. It was really fun! We took this photo of one of the animatronics:

I don’t even know who won. I just know it wasn’t me and I had lots of fun. Before going home, we passed by Dollar Tree, where I got a couple of Arthur puzzles, a giant dinosaur coloring book, and a velvet dino coloring stand:

I also got a little bandana for my Grogu:

Then we went home to bed and watched TV for ages, it was very cozy. ๐Ÿฅฐ

๐ŸŒˆ Saturday ๐ŸŒˆ

Saturday was exhausting. I did lots of chores, and helped a bit with the porch cleaning (I did a bigger amount of that yesterday, but on Friday our partner did most of the remaining cleaning). Then I put all the furniture back. It looks wonderful, even if it was a lot of work:

I also redecorated the litter box area a bit. ๐Ÿ˜ธ Some things still need to be hung back up (a lot was taken down due to the painting) but there’s only so much time in a single week…

The porch and chores such as laundry basically took my entire day, but I was able to relax a little in the evening.

๐ŸŒˆ Sunday ๐ŸŒˆ

On Sunday our partner and I went on a little solo date, it’s not a common occurrence since we generally prefer to do everything the three of us together, but Christopher had been desperately craving some alone time to just veg at home without us being our usual obnoxious selves around him. ๐Ÿ˜…

We went to the Perez Art Museum Miami, and to Wynwood for lunch and a little ice cream. We saw some cool stuff but I didn’t get any photos other than these:

After that we were on a quest to find fancy soaps, which we didn’t find, but I got these cool crayons:

Then I made dinner and we just relaxed. That was the end to a week that was at times fun, at times stressful, but good overall, as most weeks have been lately. There’s a lot of love in our home and I feel very lucky, even if things are hectic sometimes and it seems like we never stop doing things. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Pre-Trip Wrap-Up ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’ฆ

Hi hi, everyone! This is another wrap-up of the last few days. Life is busy and happy and I donโ€™t have time to blog every day right now. ๐Ÿ˜…

Last Sunday I went to the Asian market to get some special goodies. One of the things I got were these panda chocolate balls. The decor in each little package made the white balls look like pandas. It was so cute!

The white shell was very hard. You couldnโ€™t bite into it right off the bat. But the inside was soft, delicious chocolate. You could bite into the shell after having it in your mouth for a little while. ๐Ÿผ

Hereโ€™s some kitty photos I took on Monday. Rosie and Kotoko:

Kotoko was dealing with a bit of an UTI earlier this week, and Tomoyoโ€™s asthma has been acting up terribly due to the dryer air that comes with colder weather. Iโ€™m trying my best to make them well.

๐Ÿ’• Visiting Mom ๐Ÿ’•

Monday night I went to my momโ€™s for a longer visit. I was very tired on Monday and didnโ€™t do anything really, I crashed on her couch as soon as I arrived. Itโ€™s very unusual for me. But the next day I had plenty of energy, got up early and went on my 10 km walk. I walked all the way to the beach!

I came to this beach recently with a good friend, but it was late, on a moonless night. You couldnโ€™t really see the sea and it was a bit spooky. You could hear it though. But this time I was able to get lots of beautiful pictures. It was so pleasant.

I even got some video:

On the way there, I met a neighborhood kitty with a sad-looking face:

And on the way back I came across a man walking his dog and his cat at the same time. I didnโ€™t get a picture of that, but it was interesting to see. Only the dog had a leash.

When I got back, I had a little snack and completed another event in Legend Of Mana:

Sweeney was so happy to see me. Tuesday is a workday for my mom, and I left the house before her, so he wasnโ€™t expecting anyone to be back before the evening. He was over the moon!

Shampoo, too, was a little ball of affection. I took a nap, and she stayed with me the whole time.

I spent all of Tuesday working on family gift art for Christmas, watching YouTube, and playing Legend of Mana alternatively. I brought my own lunch since my mom wasnโ€™t expecting me here two days as it was a bit of a last minute decision:

I did some events in LoM that I hadnโ€™t done in my original play through, so that was kinda fun!

Hereโ€™s a few screenshots. The art of this game is such a treat. Sometimes I have to stop playing and just stare at the backgrounds. They are gorgeous.

Iโ€™ve passed the halfway mark with the events now. Iโ€™m enjoying this trip down memory lane very much, but I do also just want to finish, because I have so many other games to play.

For dinner on Tuesday night, my mom made chorizo. It was really good!

Wednesday morning I went on the same walk. I donโ€™t usually do 10 km walks unless I know I wonโ€™t be able to do my evening walk. That was the reason yesterday too. I walked to the beach and back again.

After I got back, my mom and I had mate:

I think I may bring Bowser Jr. on the trip. I was going to bring one of my teddies but Bowser Jr. stands up so nicely for photosโ€ฆIโ€™m not sure.

The entire day was spent much in the same way as Tuesday, except it was my momโ€™s day off so she was also here. I worked on the very last piece of Christmas gift art and played Legend Of Mana until my Switch battery died.

In the afternoon, we had this for a snack (more like an early dinner for me):

Itโ€™s called a โ€œcoxinhaโ€. It was really good. It was filled with something like cream cheese and shredded chicken.

Today was Dรญa Del Dibujante in Argentina. My mom always has a little surprise for me on this day (it basically means, a day to celebrate people who draw). This was the present she got me:

Itโ€™s a pair of earrings shaped like pencil shavings! I love them so much!

Christopher picked me up in the evening. I missed him so much, I was so happy to see him again. Once home, I got to see some things that came in the mail, namely, this new Daisy shirt:

…and a game that Christopher got for us since it was finally on sale, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe:

And that brings us to now โ€”Wednesday night. Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for me; I have to do all of my pre-trip prep! Iโ€™ll be gone from Friday until Sunday and wonโ€™t be answering any DMs of any kind.

Iโ€™m besides myself with excitement for so many reasons. ๐Ÿ™ˆ I just want time to go faster! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ That was actually part of the reason I stayed longer at my momโ€™s. I really need distractions and to make time fly. But I think it almost just made time feel slower because I missed Christopher a lot.

Evening With Mom! ๐Ÿ’œ

Hi hi, everyone! If youโ€™re coming here from Twitter, Iโ€™ll see your comments tomorrow. Iโ€™m at my momโ€™s now so I can cross post stuff but not respond to Twitter comments.

So! A new friend arrived today! Mignon was ready to help him out of the box:

His name is Beanie!! On account of his very cute beans! ๐Ÿพ

I love him, he has long dangling arms, almost a little monkey-like. Heโ€™s a sweet little bear.

Since his outfit obscures him a little, here you can see him before I dressed him up:

Iโ€™m having a great time with my mom. We snacked and drank wine, she made milanesas and we had them while watching The Handmaidโ€™s Tale.

The cats have been super affectionate, especially Sweeney. They seem to have missed me. I managed to snag a really cute photo of Shampoo:

Now Iโ€™m very sleepy, and in bed with Beanie…

Tomorrow should be a pretty chill day. Drawing, watching TV together and relaxing together. Iโ€™m looking forward to that. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Hope everyone has a wonderful evening!

Happy Hump Day! ๐Ÿช ๐ŸŒˆ

Hello, everyone! How are you? It’s the middle of the week. I spent today at my mom’s too, including dinner, but I’m finally home now. I have a lot to do tomorrow, and I’m buzzing with excitement for our weekend trip!

I mentioned that I’d gotten my hands on some rare Argentinian snacks from my childhood that I would share with you. This Turrรณn & Manรญ by Arcor is the most significant one.

Turrones were the cheapest of snacks when I was growing up, costing just pennies. They are kinda dry and lightweight, a bit like eating cardboard. But they are rather filling, not just for a kid with a meager allowance ($0.25 a day, though eventually it went up to $0.50 a day… still very little you could buy with that money) but also for my mother when she was a young girl working in a furniture store that was commission only (no sales, no pay). These turrones kept my mom from starving at work during those days.

The recipe has not changed at all, not from her days, nor from mine. Even the package is very close to what it was, and fills me with nostalgia.

It’s a great snack to accompany my coffees, and under 100 calories. I got a few, but I asked my mom to get me a bunch more.

Sweeney was the same as last time. I got hisses, but I also got playfulness. He’s very excited and happy when I arrive, but he won’t let me get too chummy.

I tried to spend more time with Shampoo. She looks so different these days… She’s 17 years old and must be shaved to avoid swallowing her fur and dying of a blockage.

She’s fine, affectionate, energetic and healthy, but full of little scabs from overgrooming regardless, and so thin. You feel every bone… it makes me sad… She was once an absolute beauty:

I hope my beautiful Rosie doesn’t suffer the same fate. I do miss so much how Shampoo used to look.

Anyway. My mom made my favorite again, homemade fries and fried eggs. No one can make these things like she can –no one. In particular the eggs. There is a perfection to the consistency of the yolk that I have not seen accomplished in any setting, be it someone’s house or restaurant, no one else can do it. It’s a real treat.

Afterwards, we shared the surprise Easter egg I got from Christopher. He got it at Buenos Aires bakery.

It was so, so beautiful! It also had candy inside.

It was high quality, delicious chocolate.

Anyway, I’m home again, I’ve fed Christopher and made sure he had lunch for tomorrow. Now that I’m nearly done unpacking it’s time to get ready for bed. Tomorrow is gonna be a day of prep and packing –we leave early on Friday! I can’t wait!!
