Bunk Bed Nook In Progress! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ

I completely forgot to mention this on my posts about Mwako’s visit, but while he was here, the IKEA bed I long wanted (and for which I held a gift card) came back in stock. Mwako had a very small rental car, and it was a VERY iffy proposition, but he humored me, and we went off to try and get it and potentially end up completely stuck in IKEA unable to fit the bed’s two boxes in the tiny rental car.

Well… it fit! Not only that, but Mwako got the boxes in the car and into the house by himself, I had no idea he was so strong, I could not even move those boxes.

When Mwako left the next day, shortly after he was gone our friend Fern called and came over, and somehow I got him to take apart the futon, take down the bookcase, bring up the smaller bookcase, bring up the boxes, and assemble the bed! He’s a real trooper and a very reliable friend…

At some point Christopher arrived. Then I made coffee for the two of them while Fern finished with the bed. The following Saturday our other friend, Gaspar, took me to my mom’s to get the mattress I keep there.

Below you can see what it all looks like right now:

Here is some video, too. It looks very cozy even though there’s still a way to go:

And you can see that I’ve kept the parts of the futon because it makes a fantastic pair of floor chairs:

Rosie obviously thinks so too:

I’m still missing the top mattress, which has been ordered but takes a while to get here. Without a mattress on the top, I cannot access my shelves or finish putting things on the wall, which are currently sprawled on the library floor. So I’m eager to receive it.

Also, when I next have a sleepover, now my Little friend and I can sleep in the same room. When we have someone in the guest room, Christopher can sleep in the master bedroom and I can sleep here.

We cuddle lots before bed, but sleep separately because of his snoring and because he moves a LOT, and because at this point we prefer different mattresses, but it works out for us… though somehow I still can’t stand to sleep “alone”, haha… I need him in the next room. ๐Ÿ˜ Still, that was the main reason behind needing a bed in the studio. And sometimes we just have a lot of overnight guests!

It’s Monday Again

The past week was a little wild, but the weekend was alright. We bathed the cats. Friends came over, had pizza. ๐Ÿ• Worked in my studio layout. So, it was alright.

The other day I received a new package from ODU, an onesie they’d been holding for me. This onesie design makes me think of my friend Nate and this is a big reason of why I wanted it, besides the design being adorable, of course (this is something I kinda do. I’ll get things with polar bears because they remind me of Kitty and Snow, things with lions because they remind me of Mwako, and so on.)

I’m really happy with it and have worn it already! ๐Ÿด๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฅ•๐ŸŽ

Also, I recently went to Target and happened to run into this adorable bear mug. Too pretty to use. It was only $5.00 so I bought it to display in the library.

In other news, Rudyard’s outfit is now complete. I think he looks absolutely adorable:

A far as health news goes, I was able to move my appointment to tomorrow (for the cervical MRI.) Without contrast, so no needles that day, but I’ll get needles on Thursday. That’s when the bloodwork is due to be done.

I still feel deeply uneasy. I’m guessing if/when I look at a second opinion as far as the brain cyst goes, we might go to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. It’s by far the best rated place for neurology in all of Florida. And I really want to feel at ease about this. I do not feel at ease at all. I’m just plain scared, but you know, that’s okay. It’s a scary thing. As long as I still make sure to do all I need to, it’s okay to be a little scared.

I’m still not sure if my symptoms are due to the brain cyst (neurologist says no) some blood issue (we’ll know soon) or something in my spine being compressed. My posture is terrible, primarily due to poor desk set up but above all the fact that I have never had a decent chair, ever.

The one I had now surely was great at some point but it was old and flat when it was passed down to me. My spine has zero support.

So I need a new chair. Just an okay chair that isn’t ancient and can be adjusted in a particular way will do. But the chairs I am looking at are in the neighborhood of $200.

For now, I’ve rearranged my drawing boards, so I can use the one I keep downstairs for occasional use, in a more permanent manner. It’s far more ergonomically sound:

Unfortunately, this setup is only for iPad work. My primary setup, with the Cintiq, three monitors, keyboards, etc, is the one doomed with the crappy chair.

I do not feel comfortable taking more normal commissions at this time or even opening for anything this big at all. So I’ll just mention here that if anyone wants a whole bunch of artistic freedom pieces from me (say, four, fully rendered) so I can get a chair, please contact me. It’d take a while though, so I am not comfortable doing this with anyone who isn’t a friend or frequent commissioner. Especially because I’d probably have to ask you to make the order since I do not currently have a credit card I can use, until later this week.

Anyway that’s all I’ve got for now. It’s time to take care of my snildren. I wish you all a wonderful day and will keep you posted on brain/spine/etc health news.

Friday RoundUp ๐ŸŽˆ

Greetings, everyone! โ˜€๏ธ I hope you had a great day! Iโ€™m back on some of my good habits โ€”woke up early and showered, and I had a healthier, smaller breakfast compared to my usual debauchery (lol). Hopefully I can keep this up again and also resume my walks. I do really miss them but the heat has been simply unbearable.

Anyway, remember that all you have to do today is your best. Thatโ€™s it! No one elseโ€™s metrics matter. Actual success doesnโ€™t even matter. Do your best and even if you donโ€™t succeed today, you wonโ€™t feel defeated. Remember your best can be different on different days too! So be kind and patient with yourself! ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Later in the day I did in fact go on a walk. Chantilly came along!

โ€ชI braved being very much in the vicinity of a bee to take this photo ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ

I went to Target –here are some little things I got. ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿงธ

And also, Iโ€™m just glittery trash. Seriously. I tried this on and put it back because it was like, I canโ€™t. Iโ€™m 36, I canโ€™t wear this… right? ๐Ÿ˜ซ

But it did look good. And it would look good with SO many of my shirts that actually look just terrible with my hoodies although I love those as well. So I caved.

After all, I may be able to get away with it now, but certainly wonโ€™t forever. But heck maybe when Iโ€™m older I just wonโ€™t care? Lol. Itโ€™s at Target if youโ€™re interested, but you have to be petite to wear it. It only goes up to XL.

Later I gathered the nerve to lay down the biggest sticker Iโ€™ve ever had to put down on any surface. It was a XL Redbubble sticker by dragonsandbeasties:

I donโ€™t know how, but there were no bubbles and it is sort of centered! Feeling pretty smug. ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Speaking of studio decor, here is the primary colored banner I got at Target for $3.

With all the Purikura, the banner itself looks like a digital decoration, doesn’t it? ๐Ÿ˜…

To wrap up this lovely day, I ordered Scrubyโ€™s for dinner and now Iโ€™m in freaking HEAVEN ๐Ÿ˜‹ ๐Ÿ—

I guess it’s time to wrap up the post, too. Goodnight, everyone!
