Today I went out! Thanks to kind commissioners/friends I was able to pay some more debt this morning and during my outing got some goodies at the craft store. I went grocery shopping, too.
On the way, I had some fun with the JE Alive App did some wild dinosaur spotting:
I saw this at Public and it really cracked me up. I’m not sure if you guys have seen these dog toys. Multiple lines seem to make dog toys that closely and hilariously resemble existing IPs –I’ve seen them at both Publix and Target. They are REALLY bold sometimes. I’ve seen a suspect Totoro before, and now this “Cookie” with ears! 🤣🍪
Now for a couple of cutie things I saw today at the craft store. 🥰 First this SUPER cute trike, I hated leaving her behind:
Grogu was more interesting than cute (his eyes look just plain wrong to me) but it was a really big plastic bank. I hadn’t seen those in a long time.
I’m so ready for the season, can you tell?? 😩👌🍁🍂🎃✨
Some fun leaf foam stickers too!
These are four packs of scrapbooking shapes. I took a second picture so you can see the ones underneath. Very cute and versatile! Also they were 50% off. Can’t beat that!
Cute wooden shapes to decorate my new bed! 🌈✨🐝🌞🐯🐶🧸🍔🐼🌻
A neat sticker book I found today! 🌈🦒🐘🐊🐢🐝🐯
I can’t wait to play with this… but I’m also excited about Halloween before then lol 🎄🦕 I’d like to share them with my friend Mandie.
A wee dinosaur box to store some junk I currently have on the floor:
Last thing. A fat quarter. Not very exciting-looking, but I’m gonna use it to make tiny bandanas for plastic dinosaurs and that’s definitely exciting.
Then again my definition of exciting is subjective. I’m easily excited.
Somehow, even in my deep love for dinosaurs, I’ve avoided Jurassic Park toys/the franchise apart from the original movie. This is ironic, because the two biggest factors behind my dinosaur love, at least in childhood, were The Land Before Time and Jurassic Park. The latter was the first “really scary” movie I ever watched which at the time felt like a milestone. It still gives me the same thrill today.
I think I wanted to make my affection for dinosaurs more… pure? Lol. As in free from brands? But the result is that I’ve missed out on amazing things, like Jurassic World Evolution, the original novel (which I own but never read) and stuff like Camp Cretaceous and of course the AMAZING figures in the toy line.
The most recent change to this was getting the raptor and t-rex figures I named Bangers and Mash. I was so pleased with them that I began to look for more in this line –both the Imaginext and “normal” lines, honestly I’m not familiar with the specifics, but I got a few new dinos, and now most of them have arrived.
It’s also very unlike me to get toys that have movements or make sounds. I generally dislike this. But Jurassic World toys are so unbelievably cool in this regard, that I couldn’t help it and do not regret it.
The first two I want to show off are these Indominus Rex and Carnotaurus:
Their chibi proportions make them appear irresistible cute!
The Carnotaurus “Toro” is by far my favorite. He can blink, which I wish worked better (you really have to push) but he is so adorable and lifelike:
Here is his chomping action:
Even more adorably, he can look from side to side! This is truly excellent toy design.
Indominus Rex is a little fiercer-looking. You can feed her, but she will get mad if you touch her while she is eating:
This is another Indominus Rex, of the cheaper Imaginext line. I saw this at Walmart while I was with Mwako and found the concept of it hilarious. A little dino goes on its back, and supposedly Indominus Rex should fiercely and easily shake this cheeky hanger-on right off.
Instead, it is a rather futile effort, as the little guy just will NOT LET GO.
I have to admit, I was not bummed out by this failure. I like that the little dino won’t be easily lost, since he’s determined to stay on, and Indominus Rex just hangs its head so dejectedly after the failed attempts that I found it hilarious.
Those are actually poses I like to keep them on, but if you keep his head at the lowest setting, he looks SUPER sad. 😂
Finally, I was able to find a differently-colored pair of t-rex and raptor in the ridiculously affordable XL Imaginext line. Bangers and Mash were from Walmart and sold separately for a very reasonable price, while these two come as a set on Amazon, for even less money:
And yes… I do expect to name all my dinos and give them some sort of flair. That’s what all my toys get! 😁
I have just one more coming –actually, she already came (it’s Baby Blue) but I wasn’t too pleased with the paint job so I’m having her replaced. And there are two more, massive dinos I want, and I truly mean massive, but they are $50 each. I put those in my wish list for now. 😅 Maybe for Christmas? I’m not sure my mom will humor me that much. It’s not the cost, it’s just that a brachiosaurus that goes past my knee might be too much.
On a final note I am very excited for the Jurassic World Evolution game coming out in November. I hope I can get it. 🥺 I swear in no year of my life have they ever been so many games I wanted to play!
Starbucks pumpkin drinks are back, so I had my first one of the season… Got a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. Sadly, it was almost totally flavorless. 😞
I’m not sure why I still try. I hadn’t had Starbucks in months for this reason… There are three locations near me, and they all botch simple drinks (no special requests/mods) every time. My husband’s too.
It didn’t use to be this way… in particular when the newest one opened it could be counted on to make perfect drinks. Then it steadily declined. And no one wants to be a Karen… so I’ll often trash my full $6 drink, a rare treat, rather than complain to a tired barista. 😢 The times I have asked for it to be fixed or remade were when I was with someone else who would have felt uncomfortable if I simply stared at my drink and didn’t drink while they did.
And you may say, “well don’t buy overpriced Starbucks at all then” but I don’t go there for the good “coffee”. The chain has been a steady presence in my life where many important memories were formed & parts of my books written. Sometimes I just want to go back, and enjoy a syrupy drink… it shouldn’t be so hard when I never ask for any modifications to them.
I still sometimes have the occasional perfect (or, you know, just moderately enjoyable) drink, but it’s so rare. I had already gone from “Starbucks through the year” to “Starbucks only at Fall & Christmas” (because those drinks seemed impossible to screw up) and now… it may be just “Starbucks at Christmas”.
Until that gets botched too. Lol. I dunno. I may give a PSL one last try. I’m just bummed, man.
I think today was my most favorite day of Mwako’s visit! It was definitely our “Littlest” day. We went to the beach and played lots of Littlespace games later that day back at my house.
We were up very early and off to Target to get some beach toys since I didn’t have any. Mwako got me a bucket, some scoops and a saxophone playing parasaurolophus!
I wore my Wen swimsuit, which I love to pieces still, and my new Toy Story Land hat that I got during the last Orlando trip. 😁
Mwako took lots of photos of some –some candid, some I posed for. I think these might be the only photos of me at a beach ever.
There was a lot of seaweed, and I didn’t want to go into the water because it required wading past it. So Mwako basically dragged me screaming into the sea, I wish I was joking. 🤦♀️ Then I clung on to him like a barnacle, and didn’t want to go back into the beach because of wading into the seaweed again. There was SO MUCH of it.
While we played in the water, a vehicle came and swept a lot of the seaweed on the beach away (or rather, “tilled” it into the sand). So at that point we went back to play on the nice clean beach.
My large blue bucket was quite unmanageable. I wasn’t able to make a big castle with it, I guess the sand was the problem. Being full of seaweed, it easily fell apart. But I was able to make a few small structures! A tiny city of sorts.
My parasaurolophus simply stood by playing an ominous tune on his sax.
Eventually the village was done! It even had bushes for decoration. A peaceful neighborhood, for the time being.
Mwako doesn’t really like his picture taken, but he approved of me taking this one from far away. He is looking for seashells for me to decorate my houses with.
All of these beautiful beach photos were taken by Mwako.
Of course, I had to “enhance” them with stickers… 😬
Here’s a couple more he took of me:
At this point my sax-playing parasaurolophus decided it was time to give in to his dinosaur instincts and destroy the town.
Just like that the poor entire town is gone. For some reason, after this I felt very satisfied, and just sat staring out at the sea in contemplation.
…before sentencing my parasaurolophus to be drowned when the tide came in as penance for the wanton destruction:
(In the end he got lucky, we had to leave before the tide came in. He lives to destroy again!)
🐣🌈 Littlespace Time 🌈🐣
After the beach, we went to a McDonald’s Drive-Thru and it was the perfect hour: they had Sausage Egg McMuffins AND fresh fries! I had one of the most delicious breakfasts in months. Then we got back to my place, showered, and feeling quite refreshed, began our Little time!
At Mwako’s suggestion, we watched The Owl House, a show I am new to. I liked it a lot! Here is Mwako’s play area with the big crayons:
Mwako colored very, very fast. One could hardly keep up with him!
I just colored one drawing, of Cookie Monster with… err… a neighbor? Cousin?
I basically finished, but want to add some more details later:
I also started on a new squirrel page:
Multiple Owl House episodes later, our wrists hurt and we needed a snack, so we headed downstairs.
🍿 Intermission 🍿
For a snack, I had coffee and a chocolate rice krispie treat! Mwako had juice and Lunchables.
🧩 Time For Games 🧩
Next was board games! We played Bluey’s Shadowlands.
The physical execution of this fame is atrocious, lol. I can’t recommend buying it. It’s a cool concept, however it is very poorly done. Materials wise, I mean. Mostly it’s the palm tree mechanism that is a problem. But the game looks nice.
Still –we had fun with it. Mwako won!
🌈 Waffle Block Fun 🌈
I love waffle blocks so much! They are my favorite type of block by far. We had so much fun with them. I made a little house! The house had windows, a path, a fence, a lawn chair, a satellite dish and two bushes.
Mwako made two things. The first was an Evil Lair Of Liony Doom (my name). I took many photos because I thought it was extremely cool.
He also made a cat carrier, with a handle and all:
Of course, we had to have the cats try it…
Elliot had regrets.
Rosie’s opinion was similar:
At this point Christopher was getting home so we put the toys away, and once he arrived, we went to our anticipated ramen dinner.
🍜 Hi-Pot Dinner 🍜
Hi-Pot is one of our favorite restaurants and we were happy to introduce Mwako to it. We hadn’t had it in a long time and it was as good as ever.
Since I don’t often get to go out these days, I changed all over again just to go out to dinner:
As I was setting the alarm when we left, I noticed the sun on the Ring camera and it looked pretty so I took a capture:
I had… OMG… I had too many eggs. Christopher gave me his egg in exchange for my meat. I also ordered a side order of egg thinking it would be one egg but it was two. It was a massive amount of delicious eggs.
After we got home I almost went straight to bed, just kinda crashed, I was so happy and so full. Mwako leaves tomorrow… I will miss him lots. And I’ll back to work, work work! 😫
For our first adventure, Mwako and I went to Fern Forest Nature Center! We had so much fun walking the trails and engaging in conversation about so many different things. I brought my little troll doll, Celeste, to take some photos.
📌 Warning for a photo of a very tiny 🕸️ SPIDER 🕸️ a few photos ahead (it’s tiny) and a couple photos of a SNAKE in a tank at the end. 🐍
A good amount of the trails we picked had boardwalks. It was very hot in spite of the sun not being high in the air yet. While no significant wildlife was about, we spotted tons of interesting things, logs, mushrooms, just small pretty things in nature.
Coming off the boardwalk trail, we went to the Wetlands Wander South trail next.
Down this ledge, it looked as though a troll just like Celeste, or a goblin or elf, might live! Mwako said it probably housed snakes, though. 😐
Here’s the tiny spider I mentioned at the start of the post. Just minding its own business under a leaf! 🍃🕷️
Some of these photos look very “samey”… I should have made more of an effort in posing Celeste.
These two were a couple of my favorites, though:
And now for the highlight! Mwako spotted this tiny tortoise on the trail. We thought it might be dead at first glance, but no!
It really was the perfect size for Celeste!
After the photos we gentle put it in the grass where it couldn’t get stepped on.
Before leaving the nature center we went inside one of the buildings to cool off. There was a snake there! Celeste said hi to it.
For lunch, we went to The Tavern! It was a huge treat. I had a crab cake and a crème brûlée .
The crème brûlée was made perfectly. Mwako and I shared it!
Tomorrow we are going to the beach at Mwako’s suggestion. Very, very excited about that! 🤩 We will bring toys to play in the sand. It’s going to be so much fun, I’ve wanted to go to the beach in a Little sort of way for pretty much ever!
My dear friend Mwako arrived today! He’s visiting for a few days. The last time was a couple of years ago. Normally, unless something happens, I see Mwako once a year, either at a convention or when he visits here or sometimes both at once. But with Covid, it’s been a while.
It’s always a lot of fun when Mwako comes but for this visit in particular, I’ve got a lot of Little activities planned for us to do together. I’m really looking forward to that.
I was very busy all morning –chores and commissions– but here is the outfit I picked for today:
After I finished my chores, Mwako and I went grocery shopping. I hadn’t been to Walmart in a while. I saw a really cool dinosaur in the toy area which I may have to get my hands on later… 👉👈
When Christopher got home, the three of us played with our trains and watched Thomas The Tank Engine. That was a lot of fun.
At some point I left them and went to make dinner. I made teriyaki chicken rice bowls with avocado on the side. I tried to make Mwako’s area as Little-feeling as possible.
Tomorrow we will start off on our adventures. I’m sure I’ll have tons of photos to post, so look forward to that!
My cramps were terrible this morning —the worst they’ve been in maybe 3 years. Tea almost had to be cancelled! But four painkillers and a hot compress later, I managed to get ready to go… no fancy dress this time. 😟 I couldn’t handle it feeling like that. I still felt decently cute, though.
Oh yeah –somehow, I forgot to show off this bag until today! The reason is that I got it during the recent vacation, as an early birthday present from Christopher. By which I mean I saw it at Boxlunch while Christopher was miles away (we spent that day in separate places) and I told him I’d had to have it even if I overdrafted my bank account. So, would he go halfsies with me on it as a birthday present?
In the end, he covered the whole cost, knowing how much this movie means to me on a spiritual level. 😁 But I wasn’t allowed to touch or take photos of it or anything until my actual birthday. And then I forgot because I’d hidden it. Anyway –here it is!
Christopher wore one of Grandpa’s shirts today, so I took this photo to send to Grandma. It’s been just a couple of days since the first anniversary of Grandpa’s passing… The flag was a gift from Grandma too so I included it in the photo:
Mignon was my companion for this outing!
🍰🎀 Time For Tea 🎀🍰
Here’s Mignon with my first tea pick, a peaches and cream tea. It’s a favorite of mine.
Then we had quiché and tomato soup!
Finally the best part came! I didn’t take a photo of the tray this time… It’s the same as usual –lots of delicious finger sandwiches and sweets.
They always put so much effort in the little details!
We took our time and really enjoyed ourselves. It’ll be a while before we get to go again.
After tea, we went to walk around Tate’s Comics. Then Christopher began to look for some other place to go before heading home, but so many old places we frequented had shut down permanently because of Covid… I just sat and played with Mignon while he looked on his phone.
Mignon might have gotten a little restless after a while…
Eventually we went to a retro antique store and to a thrift shop. We didn’t have any intention of shopping, but I found this book for just $1:
If you know these characters (you probably don’t) you know how hard this stuff is to find! Can’t beat it at just one dollar.
It really was a wonderful time. I didn’t have the heart to tell Lia (the owner) that it might be months/over a year before we can go again. 😢With our current situation, I think we will be lucky to be able have such a treat for our next anniversary… but it was such a lovely time, and I feel so lucky that we didn’t have to cancel it.
My last bit of birthday stuff (mostly Amazon gift card stuff) is arriving today and some arrived yesterday! I really ended up spoiled beyond belief… I will say that, considering that luxuries such as these are gonna go out of the window starting in August, I’m so glad that I have so much stuff to have fun with for a long while.
🐣 Littlespace Stuff 🐣
First is this Bingo night light! I’m going to enjoy looking at it every day on my desk while I work:
Here she is all lit up! You can’t turn the light off –it goes off by itself after a few minutes.
Here are some more vintage unopened trading cards. Can’t wait to open these during Littlespace and then scrapbooking with them!
These things can be really hit or miss though. Sometimes I get a lot of “puzzle piece” type cards…
Next –more stickers!! Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid and Crayon Shin-Chan this time. 👀
Then there’s another book for scrapbooking art into my journal. I have one more of these coming later today.
🌈 Other Cool Things 🌈
I had a lot of these books on my wish list and was really glad to get at least one. It’s absolutely fantastic! If you’re a writer I highly recommend it.
The way it works is, you look up an emotion, and for each emotion you get a wealth of expressions that you can use to express that particular state of mind. It’s just so cool.
Finally —this wasn’t a birthday present. I preordered this AGES ago… it finally came today. (*￣∀￣) ✨
I really did buy a lot of crap before things went south recently… 😅 and other than Grandma’s check (which I saved) I pretty much spent all birthday money right away, too… I wanna make sure it is clear no donation money went to any of this junk. It was either purchased before or with gift cards/money given to myself with the caveat that it was to be used for birthday treats.
Also. I think you all know this, BUT… my spending sprees often coincide with depression. Especially if it’s my Little side that is hit. 😓 You can often tell I’m depressed even if I’m seemingly super happy by how much s**t I buy in a given period of time, even if I seem super happy in my posts.
With that said, it definitely won’t be possible going forward for a while, so I’ll have to find a different coping mechanism. 👀💦 Thankfully, I have a lot to entertain myself… and the Zoom meeting with other Littles did me tremendous good too!
To be clear, no one has given me a hard time about this at all… but I worry about perception, so I wanted to set that straight.
I think that’s all for this post. I’m working really hard. Things are still fairly stressful at home, but taking time every few days to be Little is doing wonders for my mental health. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend!
Hi hi, everyone!! 👋 Guess what today is. It’s my birthday! 🥳 Of course you know, because I’m the kind of person who doesn’t shut up about these things. 😁 The first thing I woke up to was a birthday greeting and Amazon gift card from my mom in law. I think I had spent it literally ten minutes later. I’m terrible.
But anyway, got even more stuff I’m looking forward to arriving now. Today was extremely overindulgent. 😅 But I have been so sad, and so stressed, especially the last week. I am a lot happier.
🎁 Opening Presents 🎁
The first present I opened arrived some weeks ago. I didn’t know who it was from until today –thank you very much to my friend Kiba! It’s Felix Salten’s “Forest World”:
Felix Salten is a writer best known for the books “Bambi” and “Bambi’s Children”, but he also wrote “Fifteen Rabbits”, “Perri: The Youth Of A Squirrel” and many other wonderful books, which are often heartbreaking and full of death, but also hopeful and with beautiful descriptions of the wonders of life and of nature.
As I continued opening my presents, it turned out (based on the included gift notes) that I got some from Bluey and her gang! 🤯 What is this sorcery?
They sent me the Shadowlands board game, and some stickers! Thank you Bluey, Coco and Snickers! I think my friend Mwako was involved in making it happen, though… 🦁
The next package was from a dear commissioner, whom I love to draw. He has a very cute mouse fursona, a weakness of mine! His name in the community is Fieval. He sent me some Bluey figures! Thank you very much, Matt! 🐭💕
It was finally time to open my biggest present. I was very excited, so I saved it for last, and… HOLY CRAP!! 😭😱💕💕💕💕💕💕💕✨✨✨✨✨✨🌈🌈🌈🌈 *sobs*
I lost my freaking mind, it’s so cute!! Again, I suspect a tiny lion had something to do with it… although it still seemed to come from either Bluey or Bingo. Who IS the keepy-uppy expert? Was that ever established? I can’t recall. 🎈
You know… I wish I could have told 7 year old me that I would still be getting toys from multiple people for my 38th birthday –from people who also, like me, like toys and kiddy things as adults. That I would have a tank full of snails and four cats, and a library, and a husband who’s kind of a big kid like me in some ways too and makes me feel safe and loved… and drawing every day… what a life. I hope nothing happens to take it all away, but even if it did I would be so grateful for all I had until today.
🌈 Littlespace Shopping 🌈
Earlier in the day, my friend Snow sent me a present too! Some birthday monies to spend however I wanted today. So I decided to go out. And I finally made an outfit around my new Bluey shirt!
I really love it a whole lot! I wore my boots because it was sprinkling when I left but in the end I didn’t need them. It was sunny all throughout. 🌞🌻✨
Oh yeah… I know this is a petty side note, but I get asked “where did you get X thing” a LOT when I post “Little” stuff. Like multiple times a day on Twitter, often by complete strangers. It gets very old for me… I feel like I am used as a catalog mostly (usually) by people who almost never talk to me or don’t even follow me, even though 90% of the stuff I post can be found if you put 10-15 minutes into a Google search. If we are CLOSE friends then feel free to ask me via DM. 😊 I don’t mind telling friends.I just don’t like feeling used because someone is lazy.
I have a mask but it’s not in this photo. I’m wearing a mask indoors again when shipping and such, to be extra safe, but I am vaccinated! ✌🌈✨💉
I had a lot of fun on my walk, but was definitely glad that I brought a bottle of water (something I’m bad about) because the heat was quite unbearable. Here is my Little birthday treasure hoard from that excursion:
One of my favorites was this squirrel which will likely be displayed for the entirety of fall every year going forward! And speaking of squirrels and fall… another fun fall squirrel thing I got was a garden flag to put at the front of the house. Have I mentioned I’m excited for fall? 🐿️🍂🍁🌰
As you can see in the first photo I also got fall, Christmas and Birthday stickers, a new pair of scissors, and some Pride tape. And these amazing scented gel crayons! 🖍️🌈✨
Small softcover books make great, cheap scrapbooking supplies… although a part of myself dies when I cut up a brand new book, even if I bought it for this specific purpose… 😭✂️
One of the nicest thing I got was another Highlights Hidden Pictures puzzle book. These are a massive Little button for me.
I love the old-timey art and the level of difficulty is precise to my usual Little age headspace. Here’s some sample pages… 📖🖍️🌈 I love it so much!
Thank you again, Snow, for all the nice play things I was able to get! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
📦 Mail Day 📦
As if so many wonderful things weren’t enough, when I got home there was stuff in the mail for me. One was the Bella Sara card packs I ordered a while ago:
I’ll use them for scrapbooking, but opening card packs is also a big Littlespace activity for me, so I’m very excited about them.
The next really blew my mind!! I specifically asked my mom for the Vegeta figure for my birthday because it was so cheap… like $12. I knew she wanted to get me something, I didn’t want her to overspend on me! 😩 Especially when she’s spent THOUSANDS recently on immigration… WHY… 😢
Anyway… she kept messaging during my outing wanting to know if I was home. It was because of this:
So… yeah… one of the most wanted most expensive things on my list. A gorgeous artbook of my first otome experience, Code: Realize ~Guardian Of Rebirth~.
It even has art I’ve never seen before, so I was quite overcome with emotion by this beautiful present from my loving mom.
💕 Date Night 💕
After ALL of that, Christopher and I had our date night! I had a really fancy snack and perhaps a bit too much wine. Bangers is protecting my yummy hoard!
Like last time, we played Age of Empires together-but-separately (side by side):
Later we watched a movie. I was too full from snacks to have dinner. 😅
Christopher petted me for hours while we watched. I was half dozing off between the wine and all the happy feels and just feeling sooooo good, it was a wonderful evening and I felt so loved and safe.
Now it’s time for bed… thank you, everyone, for all the presents and good wishes. You made me so happy. I guess I’ll have more things to share throughout the weekend as they arrive –but tomorrow I really gotta get some work done! ✊💦 Goodnight, everyone…
